Paradise Theater Remastered Finally - In Japan; Due March 26

Postby StyxCollector » Wed Jan 15, 2014 2:15 am

Paradise Theater will get the audiophile treatment in Japan. Coming on March 26th on SHM-SACD with a catalog number of UIGY-9552. At the same time, Universal Japan is also releasing a Platinum SHM-CD version (UICY-40060) and a regular SHM-CD version (UICY-76104). Considering the old SHM-CD of Paradise Theater was not remastered, this marks the first time PT has been officially remastered anywhere.

The March 26 date looks to be a good one with other albums like Crime of the Century, Brothers in Arms, and others.

EDIT: The source for all is a 2014 DSD transfer of the US analog master tape.

I was wondering if Japan would do a Styx album or two as part of this series, and now my question has been answered. My hope is that they do a few more, one of which I prey is Grand Illusion.

I hope this gets a US release. Also I wish these would have unreleased material on them. Dennis or someone has to have unreleased songs out there.

This is a Japan only release, sorry. You'll have to buy an import if you want it.

And as for PT, no unreleased tracks exist that I'm aware of. GI and Po8? Yes.

I know that DDY and other have stated that they do not have any songs that have not been released. Somehow I find it hard to believe that they don't have things on tape that never made it to a release.

i think they probably have some unreleased material but perhaps it was never recorded at a high level.....it may only exist in demo form and that is something they would likely not want released.

Is there a site this can be ordered from? Or pre-ordered?

If your referring to my reply being posted multiple times, that was not my doing. When I went to post this reply the system produced an error and this was the result. If I could delete the repeats I would.

Am I correct that the average cost is over $600???

That can't be right. $60 maybe. Maybe the copy and paste Japanese to English currency translation went awry.

Don't know how you got $600.
I see it for 4500 yen, which looks about $45 to me after exchange.
Maybe shipping and handling is $550 ??

Yup, 4500 yen is about $45 these days. Also not sure how you got $600.

Remember that the SHM-SACD is a single layer SACD, so unless you have an SACD player, it's useless to you.

I just did a copy and paste in a google search. Anyways, I was only interested in the SHM-CD. That's the format of all my other Styx CD's. Looking forward to it's release. Thanks for the info.
