Jimmy Fallon

Mr. Roboto featured on Jimmy Fallon last night. He had a lip synching contest - and he lip synched to it. Clearly he is a big fan as this is the second Styx song he's featured, the first being "Babe". Of course you won't hear either of those songs by the current touring version of the band. (nor will you hear Best Of Times, Don't Let It End, or Show Me the Way...). Nice business model, Styx. Refuse to play your 5 highest charting songs....Regardless, this is pretty good.

but apparently they have managed to create a business model you dont agree with it but serves them well enough to allow them to keep touring and make enough money for it be worth their time. so kudos for them for creating the business they want.

jump on or jump off......the choice belongs to each individual fan.....but it's obvious that they dont have to play those songs to have success. if it were required for them to be booked and paid for a tour then I suppose they could either play the tunes or retire......but obviously, they dont and the fans dont require them to be played.

for me, the only one I miss is "best of times".....for me and my perfect styx setlist, i wish it was there....but i will gladly give up babe, dont let it end and roboto.......dont want to hear them even if DDY were still in the band. and if i were in the current version of styx with that vast catalog i would be begging tommy and JY to never play babe, dont let it end and roboto ever again and instead play stuff like borrowed time, lights, mademoiselle, and tunes such as that.

I would think that Roboto at least was chosen for the comedic value, and not because it was a brilliant tune. Any exposure is good though, right?
Styx doesn't wish to be known for Roboto or Babe (a song that's SO Dennis and SO Suzanne). I don't blame them for that. Would seem kinda lame for Gowan (or JY as in Lorelei) to be singing it knowing it's totally about Suzanne. Not sure why that's such a problem for people. If anything, you could see it as being respectful (had some not shot their mouths off about them, oh well).

Personally, I wish that Dennis would get some exposure that's a bit more serious than VW, Glee, Duets, or Fallon.
It'd be awesome to see him on a network show doing "Save Me" or something that doesn't have the kitsch value that Mr. Roboto has. Like I said, any exposure is good.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I thought it was pretty good exposure for Dennis at least. We could only hope for Jimmy Fallon to invite Dennis on the show for a interview/performance.

Yep, Their just playing the DDY tunes they are required to play to draw an audience.
