Cold Case and Hall of fame 04

Anybody catch Cold Case the new tv show on CBS on Sunday nights (7:00 central). Interesting premise, a lady detective goes back and reopens cases that went cold (unsolved). There is always a reinactment scene of the actual crime, which takes place sometime in the past with a musical overture to it, by the actual artist and not some sound alike. Pretty gruesome scene last week when two teenage lovers decide to 86 a girl that has come between them. Prior to the actual murder, while the two are professing their love for one another, the best of times is played over the scene. The twisted pair are looking at the paradise theater album during the scene. Hey anything to promote the boys, right.
Well I read today that the rock hall of fame (shame) has announced it's 04 inductees. No big surprise, that STYX, Boston, Van Halen, Rush, Forienger, Journey were not among the group. The inductees include: George Harrison, ZZ Top, Bob Seeger, Prince and the Dells.
Thought I would give my individual opinion on each and get some dialog going. Beatle George - What can I say, I am biased to the fab four. George predictably had a weaker career than Lennon/McCartney, but did have a handful of good tunes (You, Love Comes to Evryone, Give me love, Crackerbox Palace and what is life). He also had the excellent All things must pass album. I would have to say the majority of his work outside the fabs was uneven at best. Does he deserve to be in....yes, but not before STYX.
ZZ Top - good choice. These dudes rock, and I liked them before their videos. They actually embraced MTV and made some great videos by letting their music play and let the girls with the nice legs take over the visual. Should they be in before STYX......no.
Bob Seeger - has grown on me over the years, but aside from a handful of tunes and a VERRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYY overplayed old time rock and roll, has this guy done enough to get there.....answer no.
Prince - I am going to surprise most of you here and say good choice. I actually liked Purple Rain, 1999, Around the World in a day and most of his other 80's stuff. The guy did most of the instrumentation by himself on the albums and discoverd other talent over the years. Played on other peoples albums (Stevie Nicks, the bangels). He has kind of flipped his lid over the last few years, but if that kept you out, it would be a pretty empty hall of fame. Summary....deserves to go....not before STYX
The Dells....who? Are these the guys that did Didn't I blow Your Mind. If so, that is a great song. One song. If not, no songs, unless somebody can inform me of one they did. Here is your politically correct entry. I won't even dignify asking the reptetive question on STYX here.
Notice a pattern anyone. Good choices overall. Especially in light of some recent inductees (Mammas and Pappas, AC/DC). Still no STYX. Two middle finger salute to the rock and roll hall of shame.
