Longest stretch of Styx creative drought.

First it was between Kilroy and Edge (7 1/2 years)
Then it was between Edge and. Brave New World (9 years)
Both of those times it was because for most of the time, the band had broken up.

But wait, we now have a new record!! It's been 11 years since Styx had an album of creative output. And they've been together the whole time. Glad to see this band that wanted to rock has put out so many critically acclaimed albums.

But hey, they've been busy as an opening act and selling jewelry and coffee.

You have to acknowledge that the music business has changed. For bands like Styx, putting your "creative output" out for sale is not profitable. I doubt even if they were to release singles for download they would make a profit. It's obvious that this band is only going to do things that make money for them. You can't fault them for that. They clearly are not interested in doing things just to satisfy a "creative itch" they may have. The band is run more like a business now then when these guys were young and hungry to make it big. I would be willing to bet that if DDY was not approached by a record label to record OYFN you would not have seen him release an album. Nor would you have the forthcoming DVD if it wasn't for AXS looking to tape a live show to broadcast on their channel.

toph seriously……..you know better than this…….jy has been quoted loud and clear that the band does not believe there is a viable/profitable market for new music from them and therefore there is no need to dedicate the time or resources into doing it.

he did say they may dabble at releasing singles which they have done a few times to obviously not good enough success to fool with doing it again.

this thread is ultra lame even for you…..if you are gonna bitch then at least bitch about a subject that the band hasn't already answered 100% publicly why they havnt done it.
