Here's a link to an interview DDY just did for Ultimate Classic Rock. I thought it was a good interview.

It was a good interview. He did say he will probably make a new solo record. I hope he does especially with this new band. Sounds like he is not sure what it would sound like though. Make it in the Styx way or solo way. I can't wait and hope he does it soon!!!

GREAT read.

Don't agree with everything he said . When he says that the music between 1975-1981 died in 1979 it completely contradicts what he says about a great song will always be a great song.

Actually, I don't think it does. On the one hand when he says "a good song is a good song" or " a great song will always be a great song" that is him talking about his own personal feelings when it comes to musical styles. When he says that what is now considered "classic rock" died in '79 he is talking about it from the the viewpoint of the general listening public and what the industry was interested in putting out.

I thought his comments about not wanting to read fan's comments and suggestions about his music was interesting. That he doesn't want that to cloud his creativity. You also can certainly see that he doesn't want to look like he is repeating himself or be boxed in when it comes to creating music. Personally, I have always liked his diversity and I am interested in any new material he decides to release regardless of what "musical category" it gets put into. You have to appreciate that he really doesn't try to write a certain way to please the listening public. That he does it for himself and if the listening public enjoys it too then that is "the icing on the cake".
