dude you couldn't be more right........it's a f-ing joke to see f-ing los lobos on the nomination list instead of the bands you mentioned.

and it's not just los lobos, I think the bands you mentioned are more worthy than the majority of the nominees other than deep purple.

No Warren Zevon again so I'm not happy with the final list of nominees either.

Really in reality, only Journey, Foreigner and Bon Jovi have legitimate shots. I love all those bands, Styx above all, but the criteria is not well defined. Sales? Bon Jovi would be a lock. Foreigner's first 5 albums sold very well and Journey had a run in the late70's/early to mid 80's. Longevity? Bon Jovi again. The rest really don't fit because most of them have replaced key members (lead vocalists) or all but one. I think they all belong for what they've contributed to music, but I'm biased.

Of the currents nominees, I'd like to see Chicago, Steve Miller and Cheap Trick get in.

Quite frankly, I wrote this organization off years ago and really could care less about it. It changes nothing about the music and artists I like. Nobody needs the affirmation from the RNRHF.

The Cars should be a lock this year.

Their first two albums were classic. Their debut album IMO may have been the best debut album of all time. They ushered in a completely new sound and then when MTV broke they were the first, the biggest & the baddest video BAND ever with their 'Heartbeat City' album. 'You Might Think', 'Magic' and'Drive' were on rotation like every other hour and their videos for these were all classic videos, with 'You Might Think' being nominated for Video of The Year honors. 'Hello Again' and 'Why Cant I Have You' were also in heavy rotation and all five songs were top 40 hits with the first 3 being top 10 hits.

They were an iconic band and COMPLETELY deserving of this honor.

The Cars a lock? Maybe.

Their first 5 albums (78-84) sold 17 million albums in the U.S. 3 of them went top 5, four of them are top ten and all five went top 20.

Now the argument for Foreigner for instance,
Their first 5 albums (77-84) sold 25 million records in the U.S. All 5 were top 5 and even had a number one.

I really wish I knew the criteria cuz I just don't see it.

Let's do Journey now.

5 albums from the same time era (78-83) 25 million records sold in the U.S. A number one album that almost went diamond. 3 top ten albums, 4 top twenty.

Why would the Cars be more deserving than this. Not sales, not chart performance and I don't see the influence. Now I'm not saying I'm not a fan. They have great songs. Same for Cheap Trick, great songs.

Cheap Trick from 77-82. Four million records sold in the U.S. and one top ten album. They have longevity, but never the sales or chart performance. Cult following definitely, so I guess they're there for influence.

Again I wish I knew what mattered, Bon Jovi has sold 29 million albums in the U.S. and over 100 million overall. They have 5 number ones, two numbers 2's and continue to be relevant. Gold or platinum records till 2013.

I give up.

There is no criteria. The R&R all of Fame is a TOTAL joke but to me the Cars are deserving because they introduced a completely different sound( punk/new wave rock & roll pop ) sound that no one before them ever did. Then they turn around and as a band are pretty much the first ones ever to dominate MTV. Outside of Panorama( pure punk rock) and Shake It Up ( pure pop) they stuck with their punk/new /R&R sound and it was totally original from what anyone before or after them have done.

In my opinion Bon Jovi, Journey , Foreigner and Styx ( In that Order) are all 100% deserving of induction Hell they should all be first ballot inductions but because of artistic differences by a bunch of music hacks they are not getting in. It sucks.

You can make this exact same argument for both Chicago and Yes....and they both should already be in.

You are correct on both counts. Chicago's cast of players did change quite alot. I guess you can find a positive & negative for induction based on that. Both are TOTALLY 100% deserving.

Still with the Cars their sound was such a dramatic change and their first two albums were so good adding to this the MTV factor and IMO they are one of the most deserving bands ever. They were iconic, and supposedly thats what the R&R Hall of Fame is about.

On the other end of it I really like Cheap Trick. But in no way do I feel they deserve induction when bands like Journey, Foreigner, Styx and even REO Speedwagon are not in and may not even be in consideration for that honor.

In my opinion Cheap Trick isnt even in the same category as those bands they are soooo far behind.

Journey is an absolute no brainer they are soooooo deserving. Shi t they had one of the greatest rock and roll singers of all time fronting them. Add to this one of the greatest guitarists who started off in Santana and an unbelievable keyboard player and writer with other GREAT members throughout their history and they are up their with any band EVER. Foreigner and Styx are about a pace or two behind them and they too are also TOTALLY deserving of induction.

You know, the Hard Rock Café should do their own version of a HoF. Maybe call it "The Hard Rock Hall of Fame".

They obviously have enough memorabilia to open up exhibits in museums. They also seem to have a level of respect in the industry. So, why not? Then they can do it right...have the public vote on it and then the top 20 or so get in for the first round...and then every year or so the next top five. If they get big enough, they could have multiple museums around the country and swap exhibits every year, or make them regional.

And, no stupid biased panel who decides to limit the nominees to only a few. Every rock band/individual who has been around for at least 25yrs is automatically nominated and could enter the HoF every year.

If they did it right, they could put the current HoF out of business, or at least discredit them by showing the public a model of what a real RnRHoF should be.
