I thought our Boyz had sunk to a new low over the weekend with the introduction of holiday updog on the Styxworld site but I see as of this am they have pulled it off.

I realize that they are in it for the $$$$ with their jewelry, coffee etc but what about music?? I was stunned when I saw that they were selling updog for Thanksgiving and at that price it was a complete and total ripoff.I guess someone in management wised up cause they did pull it.

Here is a suggestion how about some new MUSIC! If you cant get a label you can sell it on your website instead of all the other shi t that you all come up with!

can I ask you guys a question? at this point, after all these years and the fact they are closing in on 70 years old now, what's the point in bitching about what they do now?

i mean seriously, does it even really matter at all what any of them do?

I guess where I'm coming from on this is over the years when I have been really into a franchise, tv show, musical act or whatever, I am usually all in, I try to stick with them through thick and thin. However, inevitably a lot of those things "jump the shark" and I just can't take it anymore and I lose interest. I stop following the franchise so to speak.

But if I really love parts of it then I will still try to focus on those things instead because I am not prepared to totally give up the franchise.

Point in case; I grew up watching Star Wars, it was a huge part of my life.....then the prequels came out and damn near ruined the franchise. I won't watch them anymore because to me they utterly suck.

so I focus on episodes 4,5, and 6 when I need a fix.....and I'm certainly hoping the upcoming new movie doesnt suck, but it is highly unlikely to ever live up to the hype or my expectations.....but whether it is great or not it will never erase the awesomeness of the first three I got to grow up on.

so much in the same vein, if you hate and despise everything that current styx does and they are "jumping the shark" then why even bother to keep up with what they do? if it bothers you so bad, then focus on another band or artist or hobby that doesnt bring such despair into your life. it's real simple, life is WAY to short to spend it upset all the time because styx focuses more on coffee than music these days.

What is an updog? I've never heard of that word before.

What are you talking about? What they sell on their store is very irrelevant. Journey sold Christmas ornaments. Even the Beatles sold memorabilia. It is truly the most nit picky complaint ever.

It is usually a question that one person asks another when they are trying to find out how that person is doing. Its a slang term sometimes common in urban communities. An example would be: 'Whats up dawg"? Which then is usually followed by the persons response.

well that does present a dilemma for you then, since what they have done has not turned you against them to the point of turning your focus elsewhere. that's frustrating for sure.


and honestly, i could make out a laundry list of things they have all done that wears my head out and I wish they would have done differently. but when I spend time focusing on that it actually deters me from enjoying the music they have created......so I do my best to block out the frustrating stuff and ignore a great deal of their "business" decisions these days......I try to always remember that I didn't get into the band for their personalties, business practices or because I thought they were lifelong friends that would always be together. I got into them for their music and what I have discovered over the years is that I dont agree with a lot of what artists do or believe, I just like their music, so thats where I try to place my focus to allow me to keep enjoying them.

I've been patting myself on the back since this discussion started. I created something new.

Now I only wish Styx would!!
