With all of the touring, has there been time to work on a new Styx album?

"Surprisingly yes, there has been just enough time to lay the plans, and they're quite concrete at this point for a new Styx album. We actually did quite a bit of work on it the past year and are preparing to delve deeper into it in 2016, and hopefully that'll be the year that it comes out. But it's the kind of thing where we tour so extensively, there's no need to rush a brand new piece of work out there, so we decided to pace ourselves at the schedule dictates. Hopefully people won't hear too many of our soundchecks, because that's where we flesh out a lot of our new things. We're excited about it, but I can never give a definitive, "It will be done by this date and released by that date," because there's this demand to see the band around the world, and we try to meet the demand"

That's great. This band has so much talent. Its really a shame that they dont put out more new music.

Now if we only heard that DDY was putting out some new to that would be even better.

I would really like for this to be true.

If they are rehearsing new songs, it can't be impossible for someone to sneak a phone in to get some video and post it on YouTube...

There. Now nobody can ever claim they made more pointless post than me. I'm like so proud and stuff like that.

I actually hope they are letting Gowan do some writting for this album, I honestly believe he is the most creative force in the band currently.

Please.......it would be a great present for 2016.

What I don't get is how bands like Evergrey, Kamelot, Iced Earth, etc. who might only sell 4,000-6,000 albums in first week sales (granted they sell a little better overseas) can afford to release an album every 2-3 years and do world tours, while Styx has so far waited 13 years- Big Bang Theory doesn't count.


I guess I'd be happier to just hear them say "yeah we prefer playing live and aren't totally interested in recording." Really hoping this proves to be more than just words, though. I'd enjoy hearing new Styx material.

I think that they have eluded to that when they have talked about putting out new material. Then you have actions speak louder then words.

So here we are at the end of 2016. Where's that album guys? Have they said anything more? My guess is no.
