Great article and this is the most public announcing of Dennis saying about his one more tour idea to date, do you think this will ever happen? I have serious doubts, but I guess if there is a sizable amount of money offered maybe they will bite? I think my main doubts are there isnt much interest, especially since the current line up of Styx has been touring non stop for 20 years and many casual listeners and concert goers don't care who is in the band nor do they even know who is on the stage other than it being the band Styx. I did notice that Styx did not get any package tour this year, which is interesting.

I think it's like this.

JY and Tommy got their chance to eject Dennis and they did. They seem to perceive his ability to put together successful concepts, albums and songs as being some kind of dictator who always wanted 'his way or the highway' and would undermine others to get what he wanted.

They've played without Dennis for 20 years and Lawrence is a godsend to them.

They see Dennis as someone who will just bring them down and make them miserable... no bucket of cash is ever going to convince them... I personally think.

I just wish Dennis would have reached out to Chuck over all these years where they could still be talking to one another. Chuck has claimed he had nothing to do with voting Dennis out (he gave up his share of the band) and even in 2006 or 2008 stated that he wished a reunion would happen "before any more of us die" and these days has pretty much said 'what's the point, we're happy and Dennis can go off and do what makes him happy'

Makes me sad I'll never see them with Dennis, but I'll carry on ;)

Re: "casual listeners don't know who's on stage":

It's true. BEEN true.
My anecdotal example: Styx/Bad Company/Billy Squier tour. When was that? Early 2000's?

So we're there. Some drunk redneck is screaming "BILLY!" over and over. Keeps on screaming "BILLY" all during Bad Company.

Still a bit of it during Styx....then either Lady or Come Sail Away starts, and he changes to "DENNIS!". Someone tells him "Dennis isn't in the band anymore", dude goes "Oh.....BILLY!!".

Nobody cared. Most didn't even know. They wanted to see their favorite songs and have them sound pretty close to what they remember. Lawrence doesn't sound much like Dennis, but it's close enough to where in a live setting, it's fine.

I don't think a Styx reunion does anymore than maybe getting them on a double bill with someone like Def Leppard or Journey. Which would be a pretty good upgrade over what they've been doing, most likely, but they're not going to be selling out arenas or amphitheaters on their own anymore. Not sure they ever did...maybe for a brief time, but getting Dennis back isn't going to make it so today. Even much bigger bands like Van Halen and Journey and Def Leppard can't do that on their own now, they have to at least have a known supporting act or two.

It'd be nice to see though, from a standpoint of getting away from the same old setlist they've been playing now for years, no doubt and not ignoring so many Dennis songs.
