On the front page today there is a video from the band Spread Eagle. UI knew that John Curulewski (JC) formed the band Spread Eagle after leaving Styx. I believe he formed the band in the late 70’s. Anyway, I gave it a listen. To my surprise this wasn’t his band.

How’s this possible with copyright’s of band names etc??? This band ‘ Spread Eagle’ has other videos all over YouTube.

I'm sure that since the band is defunct that the name could be used. Not sure they even filed a copyright on it since they were pretty much a local band. There are some live shows in YouTube with JC playing. I think the drummer of the band posted the videos.
Listen to JC's version here:

There are a couple of metal bands I listen to that have multiple band names. One is Ultimatum out of New Mexico. There are at least 3 other bands with the same name. And another called Die Happy. One is a metal band from the 90's, the other is has a female vocalist and is relatively new. Not sure how bands go about keeping their names but it happens all the time.

Pretty sure the Spread Eagle band on the front page has been around for a while too, so this would seem to be something that has been going on for a while.
