Who do you think is the better guitarist between James Young and Tommy Shaw? And why do you feel that one is better than the other?

Both Tremendous

Went through all their Styx efforts together from Crystal Ball to The Mission. It was very tough to gage because they were very equal in many regards so I had to go with a scientific method.

Using science, Tommy won the first 2 coin flips. JY won flip # 3, Tommy won flip 4, then JY won the last 3 flips.

JY for sure........ I guess????

How about DDY VS Gowan on keys???, Chuck VS Glen then Ricky on bass, John VS Todd on drums?

Styx are a band that I like a lot. I'd probably rank them as one of the top 10 Rock bands. But I haven't gotten into them a tremendous amount because I can't afford to buy all of the CD's. I have seen them in concert a few times.

Since I haven't heard all of their songs and seen them many, many different times, I can't fairly compare any of the other categories that you named. I will say that I am a huge fan of Ricky Phillips bass playing from Bad English, The Baby's and the album that he did with Fergie Frederiksen.

I love the Glen Burtnick solo album Heroes & Zeroes.

Tommy gets the nod for me because his playing is more melodic and he’s more versatile as a player.

When jy cuts loose and does what he does best which is in your face rock like solos in renegade and miss America he is special as well. But overall, I just think I dig the whole guitar package of tommy a little more. They make a great team.
