Someday you're gonna die and all of the Styx recordings will be lost.

What are you looking for. I do not do CDs anymore, send some sticks or drive and I load you up.

That is by far the friendliest response I've ever seen on here from somebody on the topic of sharing bootlegs. Everyone is either trying to sell them or who knows what. There used to be this Styx radio thing that played rare stuff all the time that is not possible to find anymore. There was this thing that styx in my mind of them doing an acoustic set where Tommy and Dennis are talking about the first time they jammed together in years and Tommy says "and then it was getting really obscure and it was like:" and Dennis started singing the "da da da dayoung da" from Jennifer. Most bands fans are down with sharing stuff, trying to make sure everyone has everything they are curious about. Not most Styx fans.

Maybe you should check out this site: www.dimeadozen.org

Tons of Styx, DDY, Tommy Shaw, Glen Burtnick, JY and Gowan stuff on there from time to time!

To tell the truth,I always thought this post was aimed at Styx.
Don't they have all kinds of audio and video of all kinds of stuff they did, but didn't want to release ?

Ah okay.. I thought you meant bootlegs.

As for them "having stuff" Universal has all of their catalog and if there is anything (like a official live show from 77 which is rumoured) they are the ones that have final say, not the individual band members.

Shrug.

My understanding is they have little to nothing in terms of extra content from existing albums, and they little live recordings that are of good production value that would be available to release.... that is until the 2000s, when they put out like 10 live albums :P

Can't recall who or when, but I remember an interview with one of them (Dennis, Tommy or JY) about unreleased material / bonus tracks for stuff and outside of demos of songs for "Edge II" there wasn't anything like 5 songs that didn't make the cut for Grand Illusion or some alternate version of CSA or Fooling Yourself. What you hear on the albums is what they recorded and kept. There are no studio outtakes or demos to speak of in terms of released albums, apparently.

Here's an older discussion on unreleased Styx material from this forum :)

There's stuff both audio and a bit of video (see said YT channel ...). It's a cute and convenient narrative that nothing exists.

The reality is none of it will be released, and probably because of the DDY vs. TS/JY split.

They surely have a bunch of stuff and don't have the ability or desire to put it out there. Even if there was some legal shit, they could easily give it to a 3rd party for them to "leak" and not have to take responsibility. The hoarding fans though, don't have any sort of excuse and are just sick in the head.

Ah, there's apparently an album of demos they recorded for an album after Edge of the Century!

Also... I found an incomplete bootleg of a Styx concert from 2000.... any interest? I can make a torrent for easy distribution.

I've got 12 songs from the show, which includes A Criminal Mind with the band (instead of solo) and breaking playing Mr. Roboto midway through Edge Of The Century!

They also perform a 3 minute acoustic version of The Best of Times (which Dennis recently said on FB they haven't performed since he was replaced)

Anyway, wish I had the entire thing and if there's any Styx bootleg collectors who don't have it, I have some of it... if you do have the entire thing then I want it because it was the first Styx concert I attended :P

Not rumored. Sounds good. Not the full show though ... it's what would have been a live album.

A few years ago there was a series of albums called "Legendary FM Broadcasts" for sale as digital downloads on Amazon. They might be around somewhere now but Amazon removed most of them a few months after they were offered for sale. I assume because they were bootlegs they got tagged but there are still a few of the series from other artists for sale on amazon.

This is the one I bought for 6.99

I must say it sounds excellent. I do not know who cleaned up the audio and I am not sure about the original bootleg of the show. They also had Mantra Studios as one of the Legendary FM Broadcasts but I never got around to getting that one because I already had a copy of it from years ago and I thought it sounded decent enough. I think that one might still be on Google Play for 6.99.

Here is a track from mantra

Again, it says Remastered but from what I remember I can't tell much of a difference in this one and the copy I have.

I have this, and probably 30 to 50 Styx shows and SRP...Some sound really good, some not. If you want to see a list of what I have PM and I will send you my email address. I am not the fastest in responding,..could be a week.
Google play has a lot of stuff that most don't carry.

I think I have some of the same items that you have. There were several of us that shared cds and dvd's years ago.

Over the next few weeks I'll find my list to see what I have to share if anyone is interested. It will be on cd and dvd format :)
