DDY Vol2 wishlist

Ok. Vol.1 is out and I think it ranks right there with The Mission from Styx.

That being said , within reason what do you want to hear or expect on Vol2?

I would love (I know its a long shot) but for Chuck to play bass on 1 song, also Tommy either do a guitar solo or sing background on 1 song.

I said on another thread,I know Dennis and Jeff Lynne have a good friendship, would love to hear his harmonies on a background of 1 song.

Speaking of background singers, maybe the mix on the next album the background vocals can have more to it. Dont know if the female voice on tbe album is Suzannes but maybe tone that down. Sorry but my opinion.

Maybe hearing Glenn Burtnick on a track??

What are your thoughts and expectations??

1 or 2 more songs like A Kingdom Ablaze. Staying diverse in the albums style. Getting Glen Burtnik involved a little and maybe singing a duet with Glen. All In A Days Work was a GREAT track off of the very underrated Edge of The Century album.

Growing up the songs that drew me to Styx were songs like: Golden Lark, A Song For Suzanne, Born For Adventure,Suite Madame Blue, Castle Walls, Queen of Spades, Pieces of Eight and to a lesser extent Put Me On, Ballerina Love In The Midnight , Snowblind & Half Penny Two Penny. The haunting, proggy & often longer type of songs.

A Kingdom Ablaze is a masterpiece, I love 26East volume 1 because the songs are so diverse even with DDY singing lead on 9 of the 10 songs. For me he's gonna be hard pressed to top it, but its possible.

According to Dennis 8 songs for Vol. 2 are already recorded and completed. I think he has stated he might record a couple more songs and that is it.

He will most likely add Proof of Heaven to the 8 completed songs and call it a day.

With volume 1 doing so poorly in sales, I would not expect to see a volume 2.

It's Frontiers Records - if it sells sells like 50,000K, that's a success for them.

I think the contract is for both albums, so it will come out.

The Mission didn't sell well at all either and somehow they must of gotten another contract. I don't think these record companies are paying that much, maybe just picking up the studio tab.

What are the sales? I know you can listen to the whole album on you tube. That cant help sales at all.

My comment was made solely on the fact that 26 East did not make the billboard album charts. You really don't need to sell many copies to crack the top 200 these days but it did not.

You're such a Debbie Downer. I didn't post anything negative about the latest Styx album and how they did on the charts. I don't think I even posted anything at all about the album. I only heard one song from the album and it was a video that someone taped at the Milwaukee show when it came out.

There will be another album by Dennis and it will be his last.

The reason you didn't post about "The Mission" is because you were not here posting anything at all. If you were posting, it would be the same bullshit as when Cyclorama was released.

Yes, there will be another solo Dennis album. His contract is probably written that way. But, do not pretend it is because this latest effort earned a follow up. It flopped, badly.

If other band members are credited as writers, I doubt Dennis has the ability to release them without permission.

It depends on what is now defined as "selling well". Who knows, maybe the label only takes care of the production and distribution of the CD's. Overall, it seems most people were surprised that Styx could release an album that charted at all, and that got such great reviews. It's hard to argue that it was not a success.

Yes, Tommy in one of those video interviews said that Styx has a label to release the album, and that everything is ready to start recording.

Possibly - I guess I could ask Glen again if he remembers if JY had any vo writing credits on those three - maybe on All For Love? The other two seem to be standard DDY ballads.

That is all true...but I doubt it even sold 50,000. Maybe half that. If it sold 50,000, it would have charted in the top 200.

So do I. I'm just guessing, but since it didn't chart, I will say < 20,000 the first week and only in the hundreds per week now.

From what I was told by someone who has access to Soundscan it sold less than 2,000 copies in its first week. I haven't seen the numbers myself but that is what I was told. If so that is very disappointing. I have yet to see a physical copy in stores but for what it is worth I have only seen 2 Frontiers artists in stores (Stryper and Whitesnake). Really no way to know without paying a fee to access Soundscan (Neilson).

2000 copies seems about right. Had it been much more than that it would have made the Billboard 200 chart.

Took long enough for you to react to one of my posts.... :D Wait.... you have never listened to The Mission??? Is this true? I at least listen to everything DDY puts out and give it a fair shake. That's because I have been a Styx fan since 1975. If you have not at least given The Mission one listen I have my doubts about your Styx fan status! :P

Yes it's true, I haven't listened to the album or any songs at all, just saw the one video.

Ouch! I've been a Styx fan since I was very young, about 1974. Love Classic Styx especially with the harmonies. I've seen the newer version of Styx in 1999 (Fair - found out Dennis wasn't in the band), 2003 (Harley Fest/Film Crew) 2006 (Festival/Film Crew) and one time after a hockey game all for free. I tried to go with an open mind, you can ask any of my Styx friends that went with me. I just didn't care for the concerts, it was so different especially with Dennis not being in the band. The one song from the album that I did see, I didn't really care for - I think it was the first song that was released. So I didn't even give the other songs a listen. Just for you, I'll give it a listen next week when I can concentrate.

That’s fair. I think you will like it. That Fair in 1999 you attended... was it in Wisconsin? If so, I was also there. First time I saw them without DDY.

I’ll be waiting for your honest opinion of The Mission. I’m sure several of us here will be interested in what you think of it.

In 1999 it was the Washington County Fair. Do you remember where you standing for the concert? Since they moved the fairgrounds to that area they didn't have seats yet.

I'll give my honest opinion when I hear it
