'26 East, Vol. 1 on Top 10 UCR albums of 2020

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Sun Jun 28, 2020 9:16 am

Even though I posted this in the other thread, I thought to make a new post...........

Dennis posted this one his Facebook Page.

ULTIMATE CLASSIC ROCK TOP TEN ALBUMS OF THIS YEAR so far.
DYLAN
NEIL YOUNG (not James)
OZZY
GREEN DAY
PEARL JAM etc.
DENNIS DEYOUNG

Wait what? TYPO TYPO
I can’t remember any Styx album or solo album ever having made any top ten list by rock writers ever. Wow...so thanks UCR. This is proof positive that it’s”the end days”.

How bout the company I’m in. Me and Dylan on the same list, this only happens when the question is musicians who’s last names begin with D and have never been Olympic pole vaulters. What the hell does that mean...how should I know I’m delirious with glee.
If it’s sounds like I’m bragging I Am. Sue me.
Please allow me a moment to take a victory lap. Ok wow I’m winded. Must be the cootie mask. It’s a checkerboard racing car design...on your mark get set STOP.
Peterik predicted this about the album so now I’ll have to go back see how many times I said he was a numb skull to apologize. Love ya Jimbo. Vol.ll awaits.

Keep sharing the Respect video and THE GOOD OLD Days, if you run out of friends and relatives type in the first letter of the alphabet on mail search and see how many you forgot...oh Aunt Potato Head I forgot about her. She’ll probably think it’s from Ed Mc Mahon anyway.
Cheers Mr. Potato Head.

10. Dennis DeYoung, '26 East, Vol. 1'
Named after the house where Styx were formed, '26 East, Vol. 1' finds Dennis DeYoung aspiring to (and often almost reaching) the pomp and circumstance of 1981's 'Paradise Theatre.' Thing is, he didn't have to do this. DeYoung could have continued making a comfortable living trotting out the old hits in concert, even if those dates will never fill quite as many seats without the banner of his former band. Then again, maybe that's why '26 East, Vol. 1' exists, as a refocus for those who may have forgotten his role in Styx's early-era successes. And that means all of Styx's successes: the soaring ballads, of course, but also the majestic rockers – both of which find a home again here. The project also clearly benefited from a throwback sense of collaboration, as he opened up the songwriting process to Jim Peterik. In this way, '26 East, Vol. 1' completes a circle for DeYoung – while still pointing directly ahead.
