I was just at home eating lunch and surfing the Satellite, when I saw a picture of the back of the Grand Illusion cover
flash on my screen......I went back to the station, ( MTV, it was the MTV news segemnt ) and they were talking about the rift between Dennis and the band. And then, they said Tommy had made a trip to Chicago and had a meeting with Dennis ! I wouldnt have believed it if I hadnt seen and heard it with my own eyes and ears.........

They didnt say much more, except to speculate about a possible reunion concert for Charity in the fall, date and site to be determined.....Then they went to a story about Janet Jackson on the Letterman show.

No, I havent taken any drugs today, ( legal or illegal ) I'm back at work now. If anyone is at home, please see if you can catch the whole story.....I'll check back often. This is BIG !

And, then they came on the next day and said "April Fools!"

I will believe it when I see it, BUT I also happened to see it. I'm off work until next Tuesday. I NEVER watch MTV, but Law and Order (TNT) was on a commercial, I hit the up button on my remote right before MTV news came on. I was mooore stunned that Styx even would be on MTV. They slammed em pretty good before announcing the Shaw/ Deyoung meeting. Did they(MTV) call us a lost generation musicially because of Styx?? Thats the way I heard it. All I know is MTV sure as hell did play Styx music back in the day.

Anyway, like I said I will believe it when I see it. I'm going to tape all day today and tomorrow so I dont miss it again and can really hear what that asshol e VJ said about the band.

Still the news is GOOD, and I'm pumped! Seeing the Grand Illusion backdrop was damn cool. I'm heading to the Styx message bord now to see what is being reported there. As Tommy has stated LIFE IS GOOD, !!!!!!!!

I didn't see the part slamming on the Group, and didnt detect any
sarcasm during the part I saw.

I wouldnt think MTV would play a prank on Styx fans, I dont think most of us even watch MTV, I know I havent in ( at least )15 years...The vast majority of their demographic only know Styx through South Park or VW commercials.

My brother just called me from Fort Meyers Florida. He and his family are following the Twins around at spring training. He knows what a total Styx freak I am. We have gone to a few Styx concerts together back in high school and college.
Anyway, he saw the entire MTV report on Styx from his hotel room. He said it lasted the entire segment up until the Janet Jackson/Letterman news crap. He said the segment was a long report on Styx and especially Dennis. He said the picture they showed of Dennis made him look like he was 100 years old.

MTV made fun of the band, and did say because of bands like Styx OUR GENERATION was 'lost' musically. He also said they praised one Styx song and it was Mr. Roboto. MTV called it The Staiway To Heaven for many young people of the early 1980's MTV generation. Tell me thats not a load of crap. Roboto sucked!! It is also rumored JY and Gowan are out. JY was called 'longtime Styx lead guitarist'. Gowan was called a 'replacement'. Gary Richardt (REO) my brother said is rumored to be JY's replacement.

I find this pretty hard to believe. Tell me how ONE meeting could produce all of this. Was Tommy going behind JY's back for a while. If that is the case, he's a TOTAL assho le. The only reasons I kind of believe this report is why does a 'Summer' Tour( Styx/Frampton) end in June. Plus, I SAW with my own eyes some of the report. I'm going to tape the whole damn thing when it comes back on again. I've got to see it ALL with my own eyes and ears.

Finally for all of you who said "even if they got back together I dont think I would go see em it would be too 'painful'". WHAT NOW?????????????

IF this is true (and I'm not entertaining it yet)... then JY has massive, gigantic, large amounts of EGG all over that fat head of his.

I will note that Tommy never discounted DDY ever being back in Styx that I have hear (could be wrong).

I'm looking at the Styxworld site right now. There is one post on the message board from someone who read about this here on this site! That is the only post on the subject! No one has even bothered to reply to it yet.

Well, I just got the word from the horses mouth. Tommy was just in the Styxworld chatroom, and he thought we were making this story up when we asked him about it! None of it is true! When we were telling him this story, he jokingly asked if he still had a job! lol

hi all! thats too bad for though styx has continued and made SOME level of success the 2 shows I saw in 2000 and in 01 had no new songs and it was a total greatest hits show...boring and they were living off of the past..

they aren't the same since dennis left though , they do have sum "energy" without him and man the band does rock but hasn't sounded even half as good vocally since dennis was fired and now without glen....

that would be a good idea to get him back if he would play ball.....

I figured it out right away when you mentioned MTV. If you said VH1, well that would've been a different story, especially since they sponsor the Styx tour and feature Dennis & Carrot Styx on their channel.

All I was trying to do with the MTV detail was come up with a source that couldn't be easily confirmed...you are right, VH-1 would have lent more credibility to the ruse.....but I was shooting from
the hip, so to speak.....

It's interesting that the MR board has such a Pro-Dennis reputation on the other boards.....they must just skip Yogi and Chicago Stys's posts when they come here...
