Since our good buddy Froy says this board is dead I thought I'd try to inject a little 'friendly' life into it. Lets go back to 1997, and Seven Deadly Zens.....

On Tommy Shaw's Seven Deadly Zens CD ( which I feel is one of the GREATEST CD's EVER) in Tommys notes and Thankyous on the CD jacket he thanks Dennis, Chuck, JY, and Todd for waiting on him to complete this project. Styx put their plans on hold to allow Tommy to complete this CD, and do a small tour.

I am not changing camps so to speak, BUT was Dennis allowed the same courtesy??????

of course not.. Dennis being sick wasn't in Tommy's "Best interests". That's because it's all about tommy shaw and james young and nobody else.... and now they're going to drag the Styx name through the mud just so they can think they're right./

I don't think Dennis was ever sick. I feel as though Dennis is a nut. Did anybody notice at the CMN show Dennis messed up on BCM? He also messed up on another song but I am not sure which one. I could watch it again and find it.
Dennis didn't want to do what the MAJORITY wanted so he was VOTED OFF OF THE ISLAND.
All things end. The old Styx died with John P. Over. Rock on CStyx!
By the way... Did anybody see the One With Everything single? THAT COVER WAS AWESOME.

Puh-leeeeeezzzz.....
Did you see the CMN show or not? Dennis blew it. Watch and see....
Also.... if you watch the Behind the Music show it is clear that JY didn't believe Dennis was sick either.
Have a nice day ladies. 8)

Yep, I saw the CMN. If you knew the background to that performance, I bet you might actually consider thinking differently about it. But since it was well over 5 years ago, what's the point. I can tell you that JY's opinion means zilch as to whether or not Dennis was sick. I give his comments about it a big fat zero in the credibility factor. You're free to think whatever you wish.

If what you base your belief on is one performance, then well, that says it all doesn't it. And for the record, I think it is one of Dennis' best performances and the other men seemed the less prepared. Just my opinion of course.

Have a really great day Gary.

Yep, we're just a bunch of Pro-Dennis fanatics over here on this board, aren't we ? this thread just proves it !

I suppose playing live with a group of guys you've played with for 25 Years plus, ( though not in the past several months ) after they've recently fired you is a poor excuse for lack of concentration and an error or 2 during your performance !

I dunno about any of the judges, but the American Idol Diana DeGarmo can come play bass in my band anytime........ I don't even care if she doesn't know what one is. :)

Yes, Randy Jackson a judge on American Idol, played bass on tour with Journey from 1983-1986 and on the albums Frontiers and Raised On Radio. Here's a little more history about Randy and Journey (for all you Journey fans)

http://www.jrnydv.com/Sections/Band/Journey/jackson.htm

Hey Ash, did you know that Diana is only 16 years old? I'll settle for Rob Thomas (if he wasn't married, oops and if I wasn't married). He's still a little younger than me thou, oh well.

Yep, I saw the performance too. I personally think it's wonderful that he still played after being kicked out of his own band.

Yep, a bunch of us are Pro-Dennis fanatics on this board. I don't mind talking about the contributions of any past members of Styx. I don't see a lot of JY, Tommy, Glen or Larry lovers on here. If you like them fine, no problem.

Gary, I hope you have a great day too :)

Thanks for the good wishes. I am indeed enjoying a wonderful day. The annual Jazz and Heritage Festival begins tomorrow and the town is a'buzzin'.
I would LOVE to hear the bckgrnd on the CMN show. It MIGHT even shut me up about it.
Did ya'll see the big issue of Rolling Stone with all of the commentaries on the greats? It rocked. My favorite was Little Richard on Little Richard.
The (ahem) Prince article was great too. 8)

Gary, I'm glad you're having a nice day. Here's a part of interview that Allan Hirt (from StyxCollector) had with Dennis:

AH: Knowing all that, how difficult was it to play the CMN [Children's Miracle Network] gig back in June?
DDY: Well ... it was not easy, but I had made that commitment before all this stuff happened. And as a man of his word, when I say I'll do something ... I could have backed out of that - easily! It was months between when this happened in March, and June. I could have easily said, "No, I'm not going to do it." But I had given my word not only to the band, but also to the Children's Miracle Network, and it was unfair in any way, shape, or form to back out of that. I mean, it's a great cause and an important thing to do, so I did it.

There are a few more interviews with Dennis regarding the CMN performance.

I'm sure Dennis was not feeling good during that performance. Then he performs with a band that he has been with for about 30 years knowing this will probably be the last time he'll ever be performing with them. How do you think he was treated from his band mates before and after that performance? I wasn't there, but I can guess that it wasn't a big love fest since they had him replaced already.

Gary, how would you feel?

Thanks for that quote from Dennis, Suite.

Where do I begin about this CMN thing. First of all, it was a known fact that the monitors were not working properly so the sound feedback was really next to nothing. Todd had a particularly difficult time. (Watch JY walking back there to help him out).

Second. Dennis was under ENORMOUS pressure during this performance for the reasons everyone has listed. He was, essentially, playing his heart out with four guys who wanted him anywhere but there.

Third. Tommy as been quoted as saying he never heard Dennis perform "Come Sail Away" any better than that show.

Fourth. WATCH it for crying out loud! Dennis is just a dynamo and his performance is astonishing. Rocking the Paradise is amazing. He is playing for all he is worth and it really shows.
He gave the crowd a real show in every sense of the word.

Gary, I don't know what you were seeing, but I was seeing a really great small stage performance by Styx and its ousted leader, Dennis DeYoung.

To me, he showed the world what it would miss when he was gone.

It was a heartbreaking farewell performance from him and one I will never forget.

That's my take on it. Opinions may vary, but there mine are.

You seem to have great difficulty with people whose opinion differs from yours. You ask for information about something, are then given that info, and then the best you can come up with is this statement???? Oh puh-leeezz indeed. Whatever,...life is too short to worry about myopic views like yours. Buh-bye!

Would have been nice to see Dennis (w/ smaller rock band obviously) play at Jazzfest this year...as far as CMN, if I were Dennis I would never lower myself to play on the same stage as the reluctant legend again, let him keep signing those big beer swilling female tummies at the biker rallys

I will agree with Ash on this one where I would like to see DDY and JY on the same stage one more time where DDY would sock JY right in his big fat piehole... :)
