Spaceace, I couldn't find anything about a Styx Box Set. But I did see a small article that in the music industry, a 2 cd set is "sometimes" considered a "Box Set". That means that some record or should I say cd stores consider Styx Anthology a "Box Set".

I'll keep searching and see if I can find anything. I wouldn't mind a Box Set from Styx. Why not, I have everything else - LOL

:D

That's what I figure too.

You're welcome. I wouldn't be surprised if a Box Set comes out sometime within a year or two :D

I'll email Styxcollector and find out. It seems they know everything first :)

Spaceace,

A while back, ten years or more, there was a "box set" from styx coming out. I heard about it in Billboard magazine and without knowing an actual track listing they supposed it would be 4 discs including unreleased songs and demo versions of the hits along with practically every song that could be considered a "hit".

Imagine my surprise when it came out and it was a big plastic shell containing Crystal Ball, The Grand Illusion, Pieces of Eight and Cornerstone! Hey thanks alot A&M.

Moral here is don't count on ANYTHING until you see it in the store. Just my gut instinct here, but I doubt there is some vault containing unreleased songs somewhere. If there was it would have been released far before Styx Rockers.

i wouldnt be surprised either especially if the dvd and anthology are selling pretty well.
the anthology really shows how important dennis was to the band.wonder if the record company is trying to get a reunion organized when is highly doubtful

There has been talk about a box set since the return to paradise album and the band had fully reunited. So I imagine that is what it is. Since the divorce, I think the label has taken a bit more control of the catalog and decided to pump the latest rehash of best of collection. At least with anthology, they decided to have them remastered.

I wouldn't hold my breath for what many of us consider a box set (Big bulky box with a bunch of extras). In a recent interview with the band, both JY and Tommy said they didn't know of any additional tape that was floating around other than some boxes they had recently seen in the warehouse (primarily live footage from years ago but no demos or stuff like that). Like the rest of you, i will believe in the box set when i see it but everything i've read and heard leads me to believe the anthology was it.

While I do believe it won't have anything new or special on it, I don't believe it's the anthology, unless Strawberries charges more than anyone else.

Strawberries does charge more than everyone else. And I also beleive the Anthology is what the original box set ended up being.

strawberries has the anthology for $21.99 i know cuz i bought it there. they price match so i brought in the circuit city ad for $14.99

What caught my attention in this discussion is the existence of archival footage of the band. (And that they know where it IS!)

Wouldn't it be wonderful if someone would work with that footage and create a definitive DVD of Styx history with many of the old promo videos and live concert footage?

Anthology was #50 best seller on Amazon today. Interesting that the non-DDY recent collections got nowhere NEAR that in sales.

Perhaps the powers that be will see the response to Classic Styx and maybe think about working on a DVD like this.

the name sells the product.the average person knows styx but maybe not ddy.
suite mentioned a cd of demos they released in limited supply.
sounded very cool

I think what bugsy means is that the Styx stuff with Dennis sells better than the stuff without him. Not that Styx stuff sells better than Dennis solo stuff.

SpaceAce, if you go to Styxcollector.com, then go to the News section (right side). Scroll down the news and to Troy's Corner. Troy is selling his Styx collection. Here's the link:

http://home.flash.net/~styx1981/styxlist.doc

I hope it works, there might be a few demos left on there. I bought some from him and I also buy the demos on Ebay. Most of the demos are for the radio stations and you'll hear 2 different versions of a song. These cuts are VERY nice to have for a Styx fan. The older ones are on 45's, which I think I have a few.

If there's something you're looking for, just let me know - I'll try to help you find it :D

I believe the footage that Tommy and Jy weere referring to were audio from some shows in in the 70's if my mind remembers correctly. They had talked briefly about it to a question that was asked during their last appearance on Rockline a couple of weeks ago. Sorry if there was any confusion. If someone recorded the show, they may be able to refer back to it.

So if Strawberries has the Anthology for $21.99, we can conclude that box set for around $50 is not the Anthology. :)

Yep, that is what I meant. If Dennis ever released a boxed set of his solo stuff, it would be a very small box.
:P

Oh, ok. My bad there. I assumed "footage" was video, not audio, NH.

Oh yes, there's FILM footage of Styx from the early to mid 1970's. I'm getting closer and closer to finding it. Styx performed in Hawaii and it was filmed by a film crew. I'm having such a fun time with my detective work. I have the name of the company that filmed the festival way back when. I even have a copy of the poster that Styx was featured on. The original poster from that time sells between $500-$1000 depending on the condition (because of the art work). I have a grainy DVD of the "Best Thing" song that was filmed in Milwaukee 1972.

There are audio tapes of past interviews & concerts from the 1970's too, those are harder to find.

:D

Don't forget the Paradise Theater shows that have been recorded. I have 2. One from the US and one from Japan. Also the BTM showed us footage from the Texas Fest. Kilroy shows. I am sure they have TONS of stuff.

Gary, John P. usually took his own camera on each tour. His family supplied BTM with most of the footage that we, the public, has never seen. I know most of them are home movies, but it would be nice for fans to see the footage, especially from a band members or family members view of the concerts and after the concerts :D

I'm still going over the video tapes that I have of Styx. I have the 2 Paradise Theatre tour videos, one in Japan and one from Maryland. I have most of the interviews from over the years except the People's Choice Awards. I'm hoping to have that copy soon.

:)

Well then, there appears to be plenty of film/tape footage to create a wonderful retrospective DVD for all of us Classic Styx fans.

Heck, they could even throw in 4 or 5 seconds of Carrot Styx just for continuity as long as they put in a few seconds of Dennis DeYoung on tour.

YES It would be so GREAT to have. Photos, film footage, old interviews, etc. from the beginning of Styx through the years to 1999. Then have an addition of Dennis' shows and the Carrot Styx shows. Then have it end with them together at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame.

Hey Suite... Not only do I have the show from Maryland on video I was in the audience. April 13th 1981 @ The Capital Center right outside of my hometown Wash. D.C.
I got the video in my mid 20s and the entire show was almost just as I remembered it. The only difference was I could have sworn they played She Cares....
2 years later when they did Kilroy in the same arena there was an "incident". Right before Cold War (I think it was CW) and right AFTER Babe Tommy gets on the mic and says "Folks I have some bad news... and I mean bad.... very bad...worse news you can imagine....WORSE THAN THAT LAST SONG...."
then he went into the whole Dr. Righteous is in the house blah blah blah.
I remember me and my friend looking at each other saying "did he just say that???"
