5-5-2004 Cyclorama DVD Audio Delayed
After making the update below, StyxCollector.com found out that the release date for the Cyclorama DVD-A has been pushed back to June 1.

5-5-2004 Cyclorama DVD Audio Details
As noted here in an earlier update, the most recent Styx studio album, Cyclorama,is being released on May 18 in the USA on DVD-A. The DVD-A will contain:
* The full Cyclorama album in 5.1 surround sound
* Advanced Resolution DVD-Audio, Dolby Digital 5.1, and stereo options
* Bonus unreleased and behind-the-scenes video
* Lyrics and weblinks

It will be released through Silverline, and has a catalog number of 288234-9.

It is not noted, however, if the Advanced Resolution is 96/24 or 192/24 (my guess: 96/24), or if the stereo options are Dolby 2.0 as well as Advanced Resolution, or just one.

You know, it really doesn't suprise me that you ardent DeYoung fans make posts filled with such obvious jealousy. When DDY can do something else besides perform to half filled theaters, or release a full length albums of new solo material, then maybe your sarcasm will have a point.

Until those things happen, Styx is miles ahead of DeYoung in how they entertain their fans.

I don't know, maybe it's good for your health to be able to release such emotions in threads like these. I could do the same thing to Dennis--I think his show is really dull. He performs to half filled theaters. He sounds GREAT but he can't even get the audience to stand up and sing with him...with the exception of "Come Sail Away". I doubt I will go again...unless I knew somebody in the orchestra or the choir, which is unlikely.

Sounds like to me that you're the one who is drinking JY's and Tommy's bathwater..The current Styx blows Dennis away even on the Dennis songs??? Dennis's show really dull???Excuse Me???? I think you better get you're hearing checked and be a little more objective..I was at his(Dennis) show here in Rockford and it was a really good show and the theatre was more than half full..The crowd was standing on more than one occasion..Rockin' the Paradise was really good while the Gowan lead Rockin'.....Well, I don't want to get into that...DDY's Come Sail Away was really good....While the Chipmunk version, well what can I say...Just because you like the carrot Styx better doesn't mean that they are all together better, that's just your opinion which many of us don't share...Word is Dennis is doing good...

I agree with Monker 100%! Dennis has nothing new to offer. He's done! He can't even get a record deal.

I think it's a safe bet that there will always be those who think this lineup is the best ever and that Dennis is a former shell of himself. Reversing that, there will always be those who think Dennis got shafted and that this lineup is a former shell of what Styx once was. While I personally don't care for this lineup, it doesn't mean I'm arrogant enough to think they don't have merit for some people. It's pretty pitiful to make statements like "Dennis has nothing to offer. He can't even get a record deal". No one here knows that, regardless of what we've heard, been told, or just assume. Dennis' shows of late have been playing to nearly packed houses (see San Diego interview). Regardless, no one here was wishing anything bad by making some harmless jokes about an album cover that is by most accounts, pretty pitiful in terms of artwork. Funny how those who favor this lineup over Dennis have no problems taking far worse shots than those posted here in this thread.

I'm glad each side is getting to do what they want to do. Why isn't that enough for all of us? It's been 5 years already. Sheesh. Lighten up and let it go.

I am being objective. Does Dennis sing well? Yes. Does Dennis perform well? Yes. Does the crowd get into it? No...with the exception of one or two moments. Does his concerts sell? No. Do I think he'll continue for more then a couple years? Nope...not unless Hunchback gets on Broadway.

The simple truth is that the people who go to Styx shows don't miss Dennis nearly as much as the people in this forum want them to. You don't see and hear Styx alluding to Dennis being gone during their show...as Dennis does with his "Thank you uncle Jerry" comment, and the constant, "You will only hear that song here...", "What song is next? Ah, yeah, another song I wrote." "you know what, I wrote that song..." Get over it Dennis, we know these things already.

Yeah, it is. But, you know what? Having 10,000 people singing along to it is MUCH more impressive then a couple thousand who don't know if they should sit or stand.

Why do people call themselves "Styx" fans if they feel a need to insult Tommy and JY? Dennis is gone, but that does not justify the constant insults that have been so well spoken on this forum lately.

Quite honestly, I don't like it. It reminds of the PerryIdiots and what they did to the Journey forum here. This is supposed to be a forum for STYX...and that includes the current band. You don't have to like it, but the people who post here should at least have enough respect for the band, and at least the forum, to not attempt to tarnish the band with these lame words of sarcasm.

And, that should matter to me for what reason? Like it or not, they are both Styx albums. Like it or not, Styx will probably release another studio album while Dennis continues to flirt with half filled theaters and getting Hunchback on Broadway. Which do I prefer? There is only one choice that makes any sense at all...and that is Styx performing for their fans and releasing new songs for their fans...not fumbling around trying to get a 10yr old musical on Broadway and performing shows at half filled venues to mildly enthused crowds.

Where's your sources to back up how full or empty Dennis' shows are?The fact that people stand or sit through a concert means little to me. They aren't presented in the same manner so you're comparing apples to oranges. At least the songs that Dennis does get standing ovations on you can tell. How could you tell if everyone is standing thoughout a Styx concert?

When CMC decides to drop Styx then I'll believe they are disapointed. When Styx decides it's not worth it to tour or release albums, then I'll believe they are disapointed. I am happy with STYX just the way they are. I don't like anything Dennis has written by himself since 1978. I am glad he is not a member of STYX. I feel they are a much better band without him. I am not a fan of the slower songs Dennis has been writing the last 25 years. I am looking forward to the next STYX album wich should be out within the next year. For those of you who like what Dennis is doing, I'm happy for you. Enjoy it while you can, I don't think it will last long. I don't think he would be happy doing it for too long. I do think Dennis would do well on broadway. (I do not mean that as a put down) He has the voice for it.

Those dont count because only 1/3 of the fans were there because of Styx.........

#2 c'mon.....for a band doing as many re-releases as Styx has the last few years, we cant poke a little fun at them for yet another re-release ? re-cyclorama is a great pun, at least I think it is..........if it sells, then more power to 'em, sales , or lack there of are the true measuring stick of what the pople want.

#3 I especially enjoy the comment that Dennis won't last......he 57 years old ! how long do you WANT him to last ? does anyone think he'll be touring at 65 ? 70 ? The same hold true for Styx. I dont want to see them do the 2014 Nursing Home

You know, Monker has some valid points here. This IS a Styx message board. The problem is, it is made up largely of CLASSIC Styx fans. Thus, many of us lean toward Dennis, as we feel he was the natural leader of this group and the majority of its sound was derived from his vision, his songwriting, his direction. MANY will dispute this.

Styx with Dennis sounds very different than Styx without Dennis in my opinion.

There are fans who are still very much into this band as it is now, rotating members and all. That is perfectly fine with me. I just want no part of the group that is touring and recording now under the name "Styx."

That said, arguing Dennis vs. Neo Styx -- who has the record deal, who is selling what, who has more fans at the venues etc. is a moot point.

EVERYTHING is different now. For one, yes, Dennis is older. His hair is white. He is 57 years old. He is trying to work the music he wrote and sang 30 years ago into a viable, present-day concert, centered around the melody and his still beautiful voice.

Neo Styx is doing its thing. The core guys (Tommy and JY) seem very happy with what they are doing and they are getting enthusiastic receptions from the fans who like what they do.

Is Dennis selling out huge venues? No. But he has sold out several decent sized wonderful old theaters where he can use an orchestra to back him and his band up.

Is Neo Styx selling out huge venues? We have no idea. They are not performing by themselves except very rarely. Lots of people are going to these concerts to have a good time and listen to several bands, including Neo Styx.

Sadie talks about apples and oranges here and she is 100% right. What Dennis is doing is very different from what his former group is doing.

We have had some humor at the expense of Neo Styx, some of it generated by JY’s less than stellar interviews, some of it from less than stellar album cover art and some from these constant releasing and re-releasing of the same old same old over and over.
I tend to think that the current lineup probably has little to do with these retrospective releases, even though they enthusiastically support them. It is money in their pockets as well.

And, Classic, you are so right Who wants to see the nursing home tour in 10-15 years?

Gonna put back on the suit, now, and the Roboto mask and get ready for the flames. Or maybe the fire has already died down.

That being said. This is a Styx forum. Past present and future. I enjoy having a place to read everyone's thoughts on this group. Let's remember, it was all the music from this group from every era that brought us all here. This forum is for all Styx members, past, present and future.
Let's keep having fun and not turn this into what the Journey board did that made Andrew shut it down.

This to me is not a typical Styx board where you cannot say anything at. Some of the Styx boards/forums, you even throw a small flame and you are gone. This is the only place that I have found where everyone can say what they want on both sides without being moderated to heavily.

For many, when you think of Styx, you think of Dennis. That is why I believe that he gets brought up so much on a Styx board. Would be wrong and boring if he didn't.

There are many just Styx and Dennis sites that only talk about each one in itself, and that's it. I enjoy coming here when I need a break.

There is so much so much more important going on. Let's not take this all to seriously-reminder to self!

I have felt that, though heated, this whole discussion was quite civil in totality.

Everyone had his/her say and disagreements. That is part of what this board is all about.

It is so interesting that the passion this group engendered in so many people still burns bright today in how we still discuss the breakup and the members of this amazing band.

And I have edited my comments above as I realize some of what I said earlier and posted could be interpreted wrong. None of it was intended as a putdown to the fans of Styx as it is today.

Styx/REO was a sellout at the Iowa State Fair both times the performed there...And, please, don't give me the crap that half were there for REO...when you heard the absolute roar of the crowd, I knew who they were there for.

I also think it's a total exageration to say that only 1/3 of the fans were there for Styx on the Main Event tour. I think most of the people there were there for the experience of ALL THREE bands.

You are absolutely wrong. When Andrew gave his final warning to move on from Perry vs. Journey, or else....I stopped posting for a while...But, others kept doing the same old crap...Insulting Journey, insulting fans, insulting members of the band, insulting each other.

If people can not listen to the owner of a forum, they don't deserve the privilage to post there..and if enough people can not respect the wishes of the owner, then they as a group do not deserve the forum at all.

I don't think I had much to do with why the Journey forum closed. If I am wrong, Andrew should msg me and tell me. But, I'm confident in saying that I wasn't.

I may have been a gnat buzzing around annoying him....But, I was no where close to being the main problem on that forum. It's like I said, the forum was attracting pond scum...the worst of the worst that Journey fandom had to offer...So, Andrew drained the pond and filled it in.

Um, okay. I was responding to someone flat out saying that Dennis CAN'T get a record deal. I was just wondering, to THEM, if they new this for a fact or were just making an assumption statement. This had nothing to do with a studio album.

If your last part was true in all forms then Styx fans sarcasm towards Dennis would have stopped when Cyclorama came out.

I'll ask one more time. Where is your back up that Dennis isn't selling tickets? I won't compare the size of the crowds, but that doesn't make his show any less viable or entertaining. I do respect that you don't think his show is all that spectacular, but that's your opinion, not fact.

Funny, in several interviews this year, both Dennis and this lineup have said they are working on new material for new cd's. Guess they are both not telling the truth.

As for who will be around longer, don't know. I do know the idea of watching men in their 50's parade around a stage with lingerie hanging off their guitars is not something I'm going to rush out to see. But hey, whatever you enjoy, I say go for it.

And there is no comparison to the behavior on this board to those on the Journey board. I've not once seen Andrew come in here to tell people to chill. Most of us here actually show respect to each other, even when we disagree. Perhaps you didn't notice that. Don't know.

I'm not saying Dennis is doing any better, the mightly have fallen, on both sides, a long way since their heyday. Monker, the band peaked 27 years ago ! I think it's great that both sides are still out there playing, and making some new music ( though more would be even better ! ) in the 21st century.

Are you saying you'll be at the Styx show in 2014 to see the boys rock out ? think about it....n the plus side, the band will be able to har your shouts for the 20,000th rendition of "Blue Collar Man" over the other 22 fans in attendance........on the other hand, JY will probably be playing form his customized wheelchair, provided his arthritis allows him to paly at all.......and Tommy, I'm sure his middle aged bride will happily make sure his dentures are securly in place, so his teeth dont fall out during renegade like they did at the senior center in the last town......and on Bass ? someone whose honing his craft playing with the swing chior at his high school today.

I truly hope Styx has some great new material still in them, but at some point, they will become a parody of themselves, and I hope they have the good sense not to cross that line.

You know, it really doesn't suprise me that you ardent DeYoung fans make posts filled with such obvious jealousy. When DDY can do something else besides perform to half filled theaters, or release a full length albums of new solo material, then maybe your sarcasm will have a point.

Monker, welcome back to the Styx Group - LOL I guess there's not much to talk about since the Journey Forum is gone.

I'm not "jealous" at all with the current line-up of Styx. Since I'm behind on all these fun posts, I don't know if this was answered, Dennis' last 2 shows sold out, so they weren't half empty. Just to let you know, he's working on a new cd with new songs. I think he has 5 or 9 songs completed, I can't remember the number - LOL Did you know that he doesn't need to tour 100-300 dates a year? He's happy doing what he's doing and enjoying life right now. He can do what he wants when he wants. He can make his own schedule and not have band members or a record company making all of his decisions. This is the same for many musicians. Since you love Journey so much, this is the same for Steve Perry. He can do what he wants when he wants too.

Monker, I do have to laugh at one of your posts about Styx/Reo selling out at the Iowa County Fair. If they sold out at Madison Square Gardens or a huge Arena/Stadium then I'd be impressed. When I saw Carrot Styx in 1999 at a county fair, they sold out too. The show was free.

Monker, after Sadie's posts, you still didn't answer her question:

I'll ask one more time. Where is your back up that Dennis isn't selling tickets? I won't compare the size of the crowds, but that doesn't make his show any less viable or entertaining. I do respect that you don't think his show is all that spectacular, but that's your opinion, not fact.

As for who will be around longer, don't know. I do know the idea of watching men in their 50's parade around a stage with lingerie hanging off their guitars is not something I'm going to rush out to see.

I never laughed so hard when I saw these women in their 30's and 40's and quite beautiful - EGAD, throw lingerie up on stage to the Carrot Styx boys. Then some of them had little carrots made on the underwear and attached a few to the bras. TOO FUNNY I can see if the guys were in their 20's, but sheesh.

Monker, to me, Dennis' concerts are very OUTSTANDING!!! That's my opinion and I enjoy going to them and I will keep going to them.

Hey Monker, I'm a huge Dennis fan, but I still post happenings for the Carrot Styx fans too so there's a lot to talk about. If you go back and read the past postings, you'll see that a few people on here have made a lot of sarcasm comments about Dennis too. It works both ways.

I will continue to tease about another recording of "Blue Collar Man". It's very funny, to me. Right now I think there's 12+ versions of the song. Is it me, or is that a little crazy?

Chicago is his hometown, he sold out in Chicago this last time in January (I was there).

Monker and ChicagoStyx, instead of complaining about Dennis why don't keep everyone posted on any new Styx happenings - or do I have to do that too? LOL

Oh by the way guys, I didn't know this was a competition between Dennis vs. Carrot Styx to see who was doing better!! Does it really matter? I'm just enjoying Dennis' shows, his music and the music of Classic Styx
