Styx Reunion - What If

Postby SuiteMadameBlue » Fri May 21, 2004 9:06 pm

What if there was a Styx reunion, only 1 concert that took place in Chicago, at an arena holding 60,000 people. Let's just say that this was agreed by all band members, past and present that this was only going to be a one time event. There is no opening act, they can play 20 songs, one intermission. Put all feelings about each member aside and how uncomfortable it may or not be on stage.

This event would be seen on a Pay-Per-View station. Would you pay to see it?

If you had a chance to go, what is the highest amount that you would pay for a ticket?

Let's say that part of the agreement from Pay-Per-View, that all members were invited to take the stage at the same time and play. You can be creative and have everyone on stage or have a few members stay/leave for certain songs. This concert would be geared for the fans of Styx past and present. What 20 songs would you like to hear live?

This is for a friendly, what if, discussion. I don't want to start a flame war and I know this probably will never happen, but I thought this was interesting. I know Abba was going to be paid a very hefty fee if they reunited (but they didn't). :)

Have a GREAT weekend :)

I wouldn't go.

It would seem like a one-time money grab with no commitment for the fans.

Music is a two way street. We love the musicians, but they have to love us back. Tollerating eachother for a 20-song set for the sake of selling 60,000 tickets and doing pay-per-view (which wouldn't happen because the popularity isn't there anymore mainstream) as a one-time deal doesn't indicate love... it says "We're going to do this for the money because afterward we're back to hating eachother again and you the fans can go screw yourselves".

I think the Eagles did this a few years ago...... I may never forgive Don Henley for sacrificing his really brilliant solo career in the name of an Eagles reunion with a bunch of "Also-rans".

GREAT question!!! I would allow myself $ 1,500 for this one time event. My travel costs would be around $ 750 airfare, hotel, meals etc for my wife and I. I would allow $500 dollars for PRIME tickets. I would be willing to spend $250 per ticket if it got me in rows 1-20 of this ONE TIME ONLY EVENT. I would be willing to spend another $75 to $100 dollars for someone to tape it for me on pay per view. I still would have a little cash left over for souviners. I would hope the costs wouldnt be this high, but you asked what would we be willing to spend.

As for the band I would want EVERYONE who has played in Styx there except Ricky.

Heres MY concert in order:
1. On My Way
2. I'm OK
3. These Are The Times
4. Lady
5. All In a Days Work
6. Little Suzie
7. Love In The Midnight
8. Prelude 12- Suite Madame Blue
9. Pieces Of Eight-Aku Aku

INTERMISSION

10. Born For Adventure
11. Everything Is Cool
12. Paradise
13. Piano Solo(Gowan)- More Love For The Money
14. Kiss Your Ass Goodbye
15. The Best Of Times
16. Renegade
17. Come Sail Away
18. One With Everything
19. Goodbye Roseland
20. Half Penny-Two Penny-AD 1958

If this is a ONE TIME ONLY with MY songs in MY order I'd even pay moooore if I could afford it. I could find SOME way to swing $1500. Better Yet bring it to the Alamo Dome........ On second thought leave it in Chi Town. I saw Elton John at the Alamo Dome and the sound sucked.

Another note: Gowan would be on stage for songs 3, 13-14&18, Glen would be on stage for All In a Days Work & Cyclorama songs.

Finally, and this is for Ash, I should of started my post by saying I would be there in a NEW YORK MINUTE, which the Eagles did perform when I saw them last summer. It was an EXCELLENT show!!

I'd stay home and watch Madame's concert on Pay Per view, unless I could get a ticket for $50.00........and I'd pay up to $50.00
to get it on Pay Per view as well. If it were just "Return to Paradise" re-vivited, Iskip it all together.

Now, If I could pick and choose the songs they'd play, I'd pay "Yogi" type money ! My set list would probably please only me though. It would be:

1. The Earl of Roseland
2. I'm gonna Make You Feel it
3. Put Me On
4. Madameoiselle
5. Lords of the Ring
6. Man in the Wilderness
7. The Grand Illusion
8. All in a Days Work
9. Jonas Psalter
10. Love in the Midnight
11. Castle Walls
12. What Has Come Between Us ?
13. A Day ( Tommy on Vocals )
14. These Are The Times
15. Father OSA
16. Lights
17. Pieces of Eight
18. Suite Madame Blue ( and arrangement without the 60 second
held note on the word "moooooore", I really HATE that, destroys the tempo )
19. One With Everything
20. Goodbye to Roseland

That's a show I'd pay dearly to see, and most of their signature
live songs are nowhere to be found...

Maybe its the mood I'm in right now, but I gotta agree with Ash on this one. If it were a REAL reunion, not some hypothetical one where everyone loved each other and all sins were forgiven, maybe there would be some interest.

I've got Return to Paradise and Caught in the Act, not to mention the 6 video DVD so that's probably enough.

If I did buy the pay-per-view, (no concert is worth $1500 to me anymore), I'd like to hear non "greatest hits stuff".

Best Thing
Grove of Eglantine
Lonely Child
Put Me On
Jennifer
I'm Gonna Make You Feel It
22 Years
Rock 'n' Roll Feeling
Mademoiselle
Castle Walls
Superstars
Queen of Spades
Lord of the Rings
Great White Hope
Aku Aku
Never Say Never
Eddie
Lonely People
Nothing Ever Goes as Planned
On My Way

Well maybe I'd pay a little something to see that show!
