OT-Alter Bridge

I know that some of the people that I trade with here enjoy SOME of todays new rock. So....., what do you think of Alter Bridge? A couple of their songs are getting constant play here and just saw their new video at it entered at #20 on VH1's top 20 weekly countdown.
I think they will do alright now that Scott is out. They even brought back Creed's first original bass player so all that's really new is the lead singer.
Just like Velvet Revolver not calling themselves GNR's, kudo's to these guys for moving on and not calling themselves Creed.

You bet since you have such a worthwhile opinion on everything that I respect so much. You're the boss. What you say goes and we shall do! Thanks again so much, really, for replying with such insight and thought put into it. I so look forward to your input. Thanks for replying and giving your thought out response on this matter.

I just listened to the entire album, and I am rather impressed. If you enjoy the newer sounds of todays rock music, I would really suggest giving this a try if you want something fresh from todays music sound.
Sometimes I just get tired of playing the same older music cd's over and over. Lately I have been listening to a lot of the newer rock music.

pieces:

I'm the same way about older CDs. I've probably listened to more newer rock in the last few years than the older, classic stuff. While I think there have been some really killer songs released in the last couple of years, it's hard to find entire CDs that stack up to the albums of yesteryear, IMHO.

They sound like Creed a lot. I'm not a fan of either band, but it's still rock and that's a good thing. :)

Myles Kennedy has a much better voice than Scott Stapp. I like the 'down to earth back to guitar rock with someone who can SING' sound.
I have always gotten a kick out of the fact that Creed was one of the most successful acts in the past decades, they sold over 30 million records and basically every concert was a sell out, but good luck finding anyone who will admit to liking them!

Yeah, good thing too. I mostly muse over at the Journey and VH boards and I do like Styx, but that guy was an ass. Good job 'Drew.

for the record.

Alter Bridge **IS** Creed with a different lead singer. It's the exact same band save for the singer who I think is off trying to become a prophet or something.

At least the band had the decency to change their name and not deceive their fans. Most bands these days wouldn't have half that much class.

Is that a stab at Journey or Van Halen??

And were they being indecent by carrying on as Creed after ditching the original bass player? If it had been anybody but Scott Stapp, I doubt we would've seen a name switch. Not to mention it's a little easier to do this when your old band is just coming down from the height of its popularity.

Certainly Styx could've (some would say should've) changed names post-Dennis (which seems to be the underlying implication of this topic), but do you really think they could've hoped for the same kind of media exposure and airplay that Alter Bridge is getting? I don't think so. Alter Bridge has already gotten more publicity in a few weeks than Tommy, JY, and others could've ever hoped for, regardless of what they called themselves.

It's a different beast, at least that's how I see it.

My bad... I did not realize they had other line-up changes in the past. I'm not a huge creed fan but got an earful from a friend who was one. I should have done my homework.

Actually - it was a stab at Styx. Of course, not that I ever expected Styx to change their name. I'm just saying, at least these guys didn't hire a Scott Sing-A-Like and still tour under the creed name. I'm frankly surprised the record company went along with it.

Well, it's the same record company that 'Creed' had and the record company knew that with all this promo, it would work.
