Brave New World bombed-as I said!!!!

The only reason Styx II went gold is because it finally made the charts after failing in 1973 nearly 2 years after the fact. And that was solely because of "Lady". There were plenty of angry fools who bought that album expexcting similar material.
Dennis was wrong. That album is hideous aside from "Lady". To the genius who failed to grasp my point about Brave New World:
#1-I was right-it didn't go gold. Not even close.
#2-My point was exactly what you thought (though wrongly):Cyclorama charted higher and had a radio hit and it still sold LESS than Brave New World, meaning, even WITH a hit and a HIGHER chart position it sold modestly and that Brave New World with NO hit and a LOWER chart position couldn't have sold MUCH more than Cylcorama.
#3-Cyclorama is a solid album with some filler.
#4-Brave New World is utter torture and about as entertaining as Oprah doing a nude dance to Kajagoogoo.
#5-I hear DDY is booking gigs with Terry Jacks as co-headliner.

Wow. I'd never heard that before. We should film a documentary and let all Styx fans in on this. Most of them are probably under the impression that it went gold within weeks of its release.

#1-I was right-it didn't go gold. Not even close.

Well, now that you've used the "I told you so" argument, I'm convinced. Even official sales figures (which you didn't provide) couldn't convince me otherwise now.

Thanks for the recap. You have immense journalistic potential.

#3-Cyclorama is a solid album with some filler.

Too bad you weren't in charge of promotion. With a dynamic description like that, it would've gone platinum within weeks of its release.

#4-Brave New World is utter torture and about as entertaining as Oprah doing a nude dance to Kajagoogoo.

Interesting comparison. Never having seen Oprah perform such dance, I have no comment.

#5-I hear DDY is booking gigs with Terry Jacks as co-headliner.

Who's Terry Jacks?

ek, you've had it good up until now, not having this knowledge...

But , since you've asked, Terry Jacks is a Canadian singer songwriter best known for the song containing the Lyrics

" we had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun......."

( Please dont make me go on )

2 things;

1( If I had a nickel for everytime Jackass69 tried to be funny and bombed like Brave New World did (so he claims), there would be no need for me to go into Wisconsin to hit the powerball jackpot....

2( If I ever meet Jackass69, I know now what album to play for him.....

Which songs do you consider to be filler?

Fooling Yourself (Palm of Your Hands)? perhaps, but this is a great tribute to a wonderful song.

Genki Des Ka? perhaps, but this belongs as a reference to Aku Aku

Bourgeois Pig? maybe, but I just love the Dennis references

The Tenatious D hidden comedy track? Okay, you got me there.

Here's a timeless treasure you may enjoy. Gotta love David Geddes.

Daddy please don't
it wasn't his fault
he means so much to me

Daddy please don't
we're gonna get married
just you wait and see

Every night, the same old dream
I hate to close my eyes
I can't erase the memories
the sound of Julie's cries

She called me up, late that night
and said "Joe, don't come over
my dad and I just had a fight
and he stormed out the door"

"I've never seen him act this way
my God he's going crazy.
He says he's gonna make you pay
for what we've done

He's GOT A GUN
so RUN Joey RUN, Joey RUN

Oh....my....God ! we've created a competition to come up with the tackiest pop music song of all time.......we already have several here worthy of the title. ( LMAO at "Run Joey Run" ! )

But, the list wouldnt be complete without:

"Billy, don't be a hero don't be a fool with your life......."

And who could forget (though we try) these:

Oh I've been to Nice and the isle of Greece
Where I sipped champagne on a yacht
I moved like Harlow in Monte Carlo and showed 'em what I've got
I've been undressed by kings and I've seen some things
That a woman ain't s'posed to see
I've been to paradise, but I've never been to me

MacArthur Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
Looking forward to a little afternoon delight
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
And the thought of lovin' you is getting so exciting
Sky rockets in flight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight
Afternoon delight

And of course there's always Muskrat Love, Shannon, Disco Duck...

Gee Sadie, you're making it tough for me....How about these;

Summer Lovin' Had Me A Blast- Summer Lovin', Happened So Fast

I Met A Girl Crazy For Me- I Met A Boy Cute, As Can Be

Summer Days Driftin' Away, To Uh-oh Those Summer Nights

(Waza Waza Waza OOOOO)

Tell Me More, Tell Me More, Did You Get Very Far?

Tell Me More, Tell Me More, Like, Does He Have A Car?

Or How about from the Hee-Haw files;

Where Oh Where Are You Tonight?

Why Did You Leave Me Here All Alone?

I Searched The World Over And Thought I Found True Love.

You Met Another And SSPPHHFFTT You Were Gone.

Or

Doom, Despair, And Agony On Me. (OOOOOHHHHH)

Deep Dark Depression, Excessive Misery. (OOOOOHHHHH)

If It Weren't For Bad Luck I'd Have No Luck At All (OOOOHHHHH)

Doom, Despair, And Agony On Me....

Oh, Our Friend the Jackass Reminded us of;

Too Shy-Too Shy-Hush Hush-Eye To Eye

Too Shy-Too Shy-Hush Hush.....

Dave says:

Sheesh Dave, you really need to lighten up on a few of your posts. Some people were just trying to have a little fun.

It's kind of sad, I like a few (very few - LOL) of the songs that were mentioned here -

Does anyone remember the song "The Night Chicago Died", I think it was by band called Paper Lace or something like that. When I have time, I'll have to do a Google search on it

And since we're all about having fun...seriously...let us try to remember (or should i say forget  ) these:

Heartbeat, it's a lovebeat
And a lovebeat is a good vibration
Oh a heartbeat it's a lovebeat
And when we meet it's a good sensation

Or:

But don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
I just don't think it'd understand
And if you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart
He might blow up and kill this man

Or:

Anything the Brady Bunch sang

(And yes Classic...I had to look these up). Some things should be forgotten...I just wonder about the people who keyed these in in the first place

Peace,

Sadie

You guys are making fun of my youth here....think I will join you

"You keep lying when you ought to be truthing
and you keep thinking that you'll never get burned....HA
I just found me a brand new set of matches...yeah
and what he knows you aint had time to learn
these boots were made for walking and that's just what they will do
one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you"
(bass line..bum bum bum bum bum bum)

that song set womens lib back 10 years...did provide a great scene in full metal jacket (Me so horny)

How bout some more pearls of wisdom:

"We got us a little convoy"
"One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch girl"
"She can feel the ocean fall and rise, she saw his rage and glory"
"I love the night life, I've got to boogie, on the disco roundddd"
"Baby I'm a want you, baby I'm a need you"
"Me and you and a dog named boo, traveling and living off the land"
"Her name was Lola, she was show girl, with yellow feathers in her
hair and a dress cut down to there"
"Do the hustle"
"fly robin fly...up up to the sky"
"so I let my fingers do the walking on the telephone man, hey laddie"
"Of course I can dance of course I can dance"

come on, some of you liked some of these songs way back when...
