new "Superband"

Postby Destiny » Thu Jul 14, 2011 8:40 pm

Survivor is Frankies thing! Thats a fact and a reunion will never happen. What you guys think about a band with JJ and JP ? Something like POL just more rocking. Something new ... and NOT Survivor II...a great voice and one of the biggest Songwriter in the US. Survivor left a lot of fans behind and this gap could be filled. Get new drummer, guitar and key player and call the band maybe...."Adrian" or whatever your fantasy can spin...

JJ and JP already teamed up with a new band when they did "Crossroads Moment." So basically you're asking how we would feel if they gave that band a name and kept recording more albums? I'd definitely be into that. I think CM was a really good album, and if they can turn down the cheese factor a bit, it would be even better.

As for a name, I don't know. But if you don't want it to be a "Survivor v2.0" kind of thing, then calling it "Adrian" probably isn't such a good idea, since that's a direct tie-in to the Rocky franchise, which is something Survivor will always be associated with. The band name shouldn't have any relation to Rocky, tigers or lions.

Of course my first choice is that Peterik return to Survivor along side Sullivan and Droubay, and that either Jamison or Bickler, or both, return as lead vocalist.

But if that's not gonna happen, then I would love to see Peterik put together a band that has not only Jamison, but maybe also Bickler, Stephan Ellis, and if Droubay stays with Sullivan, then maybe get Gary Smith on drums. And have them go for a complete all-out classic Survivor sound.

This may sound too cheesy, but a couple of band names that I thought of were "Survival Of The Fittest" or "Surviving And Thriving."

Damn, I wish I were a multi-millionaire, I'd bankroll such a project myself!

I meant to add that I know that in some ways it may seem unrealistic to carry two lead vocalists in Survivor or a Survivor-type project? But at the age that Jimi and Dave are now, it would help them both to have another person sharing half of the lead vocals live.

Don't know if Peterik or Jamison ever think about it but CM shows that a new Band like this really can have a market...!!!

You can't take two old members of Survivor who get together and call 2/5s of a band a Superband. It doesn't work like that. At most, they are 2/5s of a once really good band. Superband would include key members of different bands who get together. Put together Steve Perry, Neil Peart, Frankie Sullivan and Steve Walsh and I'd call that a Superband.

The idea that JJ and JP could ever be greater than Survivor as a whole is just nonsense. Sorry.

They dont need to be better! Forget Survivor! I think about the energy such a band would have! Jimis voice and Jims Songwriting! There are so many good guitar players out there. I think about a NEW Band and not McSurvivor 2.0

well, they ARE doing records together (at least just one but I guess the could do more!) and Peterik looks quite oriented to having many different projects in the works at same time. So, if his mindset is at this, and he's happy doing all this, then I can't see a reason why to put his whole efforts into 1 new band which will never even come close to what Survivor was.

I thing aging has a huge impact on decisions of everyone's involved in Survivor. It's totally clear than Jim, Jimi and Frankie would want at this point to be remembered as artists that stands on their own, individually, not only as being 'a part' or ' 1/5 of' Survivor.

Wiser words haven't been said.

Steve Walsh is interesting. Kansas is one of my fav bands (....just recently  ) So Walsh will be on Keyboards right? He might have to do the vocals though as well. Perry Im not sure he can still belt it out.
