Too Hot To Sleep/Man In Motion Album Cover

Postby Slander » Sat Sep 03, 2011 2:28 am

I just listened to the Night Ranger interview on VH1 Classic Night with Eddie Webb. Jack Blades tell a funny story about how their Man In Motion album cover was then used by Survivor for Too Hot To Sleep, check it out:

I've listened to both albums many times and never noticed!

Those two albums came out the same year.

Funny thing. Here in C-Town there is a local entertainment paper that reviewed "Too Hot To sleep" and "Man In Motion" together at the same time back in 1988. The reviewer trashed both albums, and claimed that Survivor and Night Ranger fans would abandon those bands over those albums.

Those are my favorite albums by the 2 bands.

I've always noticed a similarity to the album covers. But I don't see how he thinks that the THTS cover is a rip-off of the MIM cover? (I haven't listened to what Blades said, however.)

I agree with you on that CD being one of the better Survivor cds, but I think it was the worst of the original five cds for Night Ranger....but still a good cd.

It is similar but not a rip off. I have both those cds and never made the connection until I heard Jack say that. Jack is a great talker ( mean that in a positive way). He is great and getting a story out there, I just can not say I agree with him on them being the exact picture. The only similarity is that both cds have skies in the and they both came out the same year, but theclouds are not the same, the colors are not the same. The person is added, etc. I think at that time Night Ranger was very cynical of the music business...they did break up after the cd and the have pretty much said that they were cynical.
