It happens to me almost everyday.

That happens to me all the time! I have a running joke with many of my clients that I'm psychic that way. But whatever the cause, in my belief system it's the sovereignty of God, and not any special power I have. As far as I'm concerned, He orchestrated the events and planted the thought in my head.

Now, on a practical level, I'm absolutely for positive thinking and know it makes an immeasurable difference in your life. Negative thinkers tend to fall victim of "Self-Fulfilling Prophecy", or basically, they subconsciously engineer their own negative situations.

Froy, what I'm going to say has nothing to do with you, so please don't take it that way -- I'm off on another tangent now... :P What I'm down on is that there unfortunately are lots of sad-sack people that are gullible and easily manipulated by many positive thinking products, motivational speakers, etc. You know, the guys that run and jump up and down the aisles yelling. What those people don't realize is that they are only being worked up in their emotions -- driven to a real high -- but one that they can't sustain (just like any fad diet). And they usually crash hard, and with less padding in their wallet to protect their butt when they fall.

MLM products are ALL this way... (again, don't know if this has anything to do with "The Secret" or not -- just making a comment). I better not get started on MLM's, because I could sink Andrew's server pretty quickly... haha!

I don't know anything about "The Secret", but I can just smell hype designed to take advantage of people a mile away.

Let me say one last thing... so you feel you live your life by the "laws of attraction", and you read this book or watch the movie, and think, "That's ME!". It's not hard to engineer matching circumstances, just like those "mediums" that can walk up to you and start telling you all sorts of things about yourself without having ever met you.

If you like it, great, but I personally would look into it online to get both sides of the spectrum on that book. I think I will anyway...

Yeah, and Dr. Phil. He nauseates the fuck out of me. He seems to think he is an authority on everything - even losing weight. Why the fuck would anyone take advice on how to lose weight from a big fat ass like him?

Look at this idiot trying to cure the mentally ill:

I didn't realize you'd been on this message board that long! :P J/K

Yeah, I watched that clip... Were those people supposed to be mentally ill? It didn't look like that to me. I've seen therapy like that, where you are supposed to just get out all the anger in you by shouting or striking something. I knew a girl who was a psychologist and used to recommend slapping a toilet seat with a leather belt (I guess because it made a loud sound), but not for mentally ill people.

Anyway, I can understand why they do that -- I guess it's to let the person just completely vent and say get it out of their system, becuase its stuff they've internalized for far too long. After that "clearing", you can begin to work on things. It does looks stupid in that clip, but it can be effective.

Hmm... How many of Oprah's endorsements have ended up being shlubs... like Dr. Jan Adams? :P Oprah is her own god, and everything she does is for her own glory.

That maybe be true Rip, but if she endorses you, there will be money end up in your pocket. The sales from that book shot through the ceiling the day after the author appeared on the show.

Maybe that is the secret....get on Oprah 8)

Totally agree with that. I've always been quite positive and especially the last couple years. Very true, you get back what you project. I find I don't have much patience for negative thinkers anymore. I have a friend that engineers a negative out of everything and I'm the opposite, I can usually find at least one positive in everything. Glass-half-empty/glass-half-full kind of outlook. Life is totally what you make it...........doesn't matter what ever some stupid book/movie says. :? I wouldn't trade the people I've met, the places I've gone and the things I've done in the last few years for a million bucks!

Hey, Deb -- same situation here. I'm finally learning to try a few things, and not be so quick to negate any opportunities that come my way. Also learning to be more spur-of-the-moment. If I'd realllly been spur-of-the-moment, I would have bolted out of my chair when I learned of JSS's Ft. Worth gig and made the 5+ hr. drive, hopefully to get there by the time the show started. Next time I find out about a JSS show last minute like that, that's exactly what I'll do. :P
