I love Troubled Child. I'll admit early on when I first got into Journey (Frontiers was actually the first Journey album I had ever purchased) I didn't listen to the b-side songs that much. I wore the cassette tape out on playing all the popular releases. But, the more I listened to Edge of the Blade, Troubled Child, Rubicon, etc...the more I started liking those songs; especially Edge and TC.
I think what happens is, when you know the era of Journey being at the top of their game is over, you long for that again. You long to hear something new from that era again (even though that's probably impossible.) So, you go back and revisit those songs that were never released to the radio, and you "rediscover" those songs if you will. That's what happened to me with Troubled Child, Edge of the Blade, New Frontiers, and Rubicon. I don't dislike Backtalk, but believe it's the weakest track on the b-side. Still, I rediscovered those songs and love listening to them about as much as Separate Ways or Faithfully.
