Does anyone have any info on the Tommy Tokioka sessions?

When and where they took place? How did Perry get involved?

While I find "I Wish You Were Mine" to be a fun, chill-out, summer bbq & a beer song, Perry's backing vocals on "An Angel Above Me" are simply haunting.

I'm not sure how Perry got involved. I do however remember reading that the sessions took place in Hawaii about the middle of the summer 2000. And I'll agree...they're great vocals....but I'm not sure It proves he could still pull off the good stuff...that was 8 years ago, mind you..

Not looking to debate SP's capabilities on this, though. Whatever shape his voice may be in now has no effect on past performances.

The way I heard it back in 2000 from somebody who lived in Hawaii and was a fan of Tommy's, Tommy was in the studio and needed somebody to do those high pitched background vocals. They were having trouble finding somebody and one of the people, producer, engineer, somebody, new Steve was in Hawaii so they took a chance and contacted him. He agreed and that was that.

Don't know if it's true, that's just what I heard.
