OT: Identify This. "Heat of the Moment" by asia.

Postby venomnation » Mon Apr 14, 2008 1:37 pm

Okay so I'm browsing through my archives, and I come across this song "heat of the moment" by asia...and I add it to the playlist and it comes up and I said "something is dearly wrong here". I ran it through a friend...who said the same thing. Can someone PLEASE identify for me, what this is I'm hearing. It's one of five copies of the song I have in my archives, seven if you count live versions....and this is the only one of the five studio tracks...that doesn't sound "right" to me... What is it? WHO is it?

Was there another version put out that I don't know about? On a greatest hits or somethin? A radio mix? I have their entire catalogue, and this is NOT in it that I can find. This was just in a loose folder somewhere...

This almost sounds like a cover band to me. The lead vocals are definitely off.

Hm... could it be a Payne-era re-recording maybe? That's my only guess... doesn't sound like Wetton, that's for sure. Guitar tone sounds too heavy to be Howe too.

When it came up in my iTunes it says it's from the Absolute Hair Metal Vol. 43 album and the date is 2007. I found it listed here. http://www.torrentz.com/a9e18459c43734e ... 8c4703d4fc

My guess it that it is a Payne led rerecorded version.

Sometimes Limewire and other music sources for some reason(either ignorance or trying to beat the system) change the name of artists. I've noticed sounds by Pat Benatar listed as Joan Jett and vice vs or Quarterflash listed as The Bangles, etc etc. But for it to SOUND different is odd.

That isn't Payne or anyone else associated with Asia. Horrible production and average vocal.

Probably some shithouse Deadline/Cleopatra tribute track.

Actually, wrongo there! It IS Payne, from 1999's ASIA Anthology. There is a matching sample on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Anthology-Asia/dp ... 252&sr=8-2

I had that disc for only a few weeks before I left it at some girl's house, and I guess I didn't like her enough to go back and get it.... LOL!

It's really funny to go on Morpheus and have "Foolish Heart" turn up in search results for Richard Marx.

You mean the girl or the CD? I must have had some faith in the disc, else I would have taken Trial By Fire or The Best of Sade. They ought to ban those discs for use on dates just like Rohypnol!
