Since he chooses not to, Steve Augeri, a man who respects Perry and his talent, is filling his shoes as best he can and in his own way. And I think he is doing a great job. There will NEVER be another Steve Perry, but Steve Augeri deserves our respect and appreciation for helping the Journey to continue.
I'm a HUGE Perry fan and I agree that he flat out went all out live. But please, do add Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant, Steven Tyler and yes, Mick Jagger to that list. NONE of them ever mailed in a show either.

Oh, I didn't mean to not include those guys, and I don't think they ever mailed in a show either, BUT, not one of those guys could sing the way Steve perry could. You have to remember, with regards to those other singers, IMO, Journey tunes are harder to sing...I have a hard time visualizing Tyler singing Seperate Ways, Escape, Stone in Love..followed by Open Arms..just ain't happening...

I am sorry, and I think I am correct in saying this, but there was none better.

Of course, some would say that Daltrey, Plant, Tyler, Jagger, etc. are in the same league. They would just be wrong.

Just kidding. Obviously music is subjective and we all have our own tastes. I love Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and am lukewoarm on the Stones and The Who, but respect their talent. No singer I have ever heard gave me chills like Steve Perry. Let's hear any of the aforementioned singers try to sing Something to Hide, especially the notes at the end! Thay are all great at what they do, but when it comes to being able to rock out and switch gears into a ballad that makes girls cry, there has been no one that can touch Steve Perry. JMHO.

[quote="Rock'ndeano" Did you hear how powerful his voice was??[/quote]

Yeah - I wasn't blown away by his voice even 11 years ago during FTLOSM...but I just mean he has IT...he has the presence...

Talking about me, Hottsie? I stand by what I say. It's the truth and it's in print. It's been said "the truth hurts....."

What I say is "enough of this assinine topic already!"

Good Grief woman.......Waiting for that new CD to have something
positive for Journey fans to talk about.
