The new CD will be marketed with the new cd

What's this about a DVD?
They're doing a shoot of Vegas?

COMPLETELY AGREE. If any re-recording is to be done, it should be different versions of a few of the classics, something that separates the new recording from the classic recordings. It'd also be a great way to introduce Arnel and spice things up for the tour.

There have been pieces of interviews saying that the public Vegas show on the 8th will be filmed for a DVD. I haven't seen anything official, but it's been mentioned in the press multiple times.

Would the new releases sell without Perry on them? Doubtful. They would only serve to be a hard slap in Perry's face.

Do you think most of Journey's fans will feel this way, or do you think these CD's will fly off the store shelves like hotcakes?

Yes, but did anyone buy them? I sure wouldn't. Why would anyone want a rendition of classic Queen songs with someone other than Freddie Mercury on them? Can you imagine someone buying "Bohemian Rhapsody" with a Freddie soundalike singing it? I fail to see the logic of it.

Likewise, why would anyone want to pay money for classic Journey songs with a singer overdubbing Steve Perry's vocal tracks? I just don't see why anyone would buy them.
I am all for Arnel singing for Journey on a concert tour since Steve Perry is unwilling or unable to do so. But why would they re-record the classics? Am I missing something?

They didn't try to dupe people into thinking Freddie was still singing them.

And before anybody asks, as much as I love the way Jeremey sings the songs live I would have been just as disgusted if they had done what they're doing now with Jeremey.

I wouldn't have had as much problem with JSS rerecording the hits because he'd have sung them like JSS, but I still wouldn't have liked it and wouldn't have bought it.

Why the fuckin' hell would anybody buy a Journey GH CD sung by a Steve Perry soundalike when they can buy it with Steve Perry?

Who's stupider, the band or the lame brained people who buy the shit?

I could possibly see why someone would buy a Mariah Carey version of "Open Arms". She likes the song, so she sang it. It's not like she hasn't already become highly successful with her own music. But would anyone buy a CD with a Mariah soundalike singing all of her classic hits?

I am baffled by the idea that Journey would re-record the Perry classics with a soundalike singer. To me, this would only serve to piss Steve Perry off, and turn away masses of long-time Journey fans. Go ahead and book a tour with the new singer Arnel Pineda (which I would probably pay to see), and cut an album of new songs - even if it sounds like Steve Perry singing them. But to go back and re-record a CD of Journey classics with a Steve Perry soundalike just seems like such an insane idea. I cannot imagine that anyone would see a reason to buy it.

Maybe they are planning to find a market for them in Asia?

Because they forgot to put down the CRACK PIPE!!!!

Sing them in concert, whatever... of course, because at the live show, it's certainly expected.
OTHER than that, leave that shit alone!!!

That goes for Journey, Queen, and any other band considering such insanity.
It's a dumb shit thing to do ESPECIALLY for a band like Journey.

Can anyone imagine what would happen if the remaining Beatles went back and re-recorded the classic Beatles' hits with a John Lennon soundalike? Beatles' fans would feel like they were pounding a stake through John Lennon's dead body in the grave. There is simply no logical reason to do such a thing. The classics could never be improved upon. They are immortal, and to touch them would be considered musical blasphemy.

Even when Sammy Hagar took over as lead singer for Van Halen, they never considered putting out an album of Van Halen/David Lee Roth hits with Sammy singing them. Can you imagine the fan backlash that would have taken place over such a thing?
