For you to bring up drug use as one of the only reasons people like the Beatles is comical. Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, The Who, The Stones, Styx, Foreigner, and yes, your beloved Journey, all have a drug presence. They all have fans who did/done/do drugs and the band members themselves have all participated in recreational drugs. I fucking hate Zeppelin, but you need to give them props....it was your blind moronic statement on Springsteen which makes you an idiot. Boring? Yeah, the greatest singer/songwriter of all time has boring music  Let's see...take Perry's lyrics and put them up against Bruce's and there is a huge difference in quality.

Dude, throw up the white flag now and take your assbeating, or continue on and get slaughtered

Thank you, Deano, for supplying St John with that MUCH deserved trip to the woodshed. Boring indeed! Possibly the greatest American songwriter AND , at age 58, STILL the finest rock and roll performer who ever graced a stage...

Granted, he's not as cool as SURVIVOR or anything....

I agree with Saint John to some degree. There are only a handful of Springsteen songs that I like much at all. Although I like quite a few Beatles tunes, I'm not a big fan of them, either.

Idiot. You are nothing but a complete moron with this post. You cannot even defend this.

I was going to go on and say yeah, who wants to see an elderly woman and an overweight Kevin Chalfant on guitar, then you go on and disrespect probably the greatest band of all time(Beatles), and possibly the greatest American rocker ever(Bruce). You embarrassed yourself here dude.

I didn't "disrespect" the Beatles by any means. They accomplished that by themselves by wandering around tripping on LSD, writing drug induced, moronic songs like "Yellow Submarine", marrying Yoko Ono, marrying a gold digger with one leg, and selling your songs to a pedophile like Michael Jackson.
As for Springsteen, I find it hard to like a guy that doesn't wash his clothes, sounds like he's constipated while he's singing and puts his ass on one of his album covers. That dude is a hack...an American "novelty." A guy that the everyday Joe, who is basically JUST as talented vocally as him can relate to and like. I find his music boring and uninspiring. He has the range of Cecil Fielder.

The Beatles did not sell that catalog. Paul McCartney AND Yoko Ono (together!) tried to buy them! The Beatles did not own the rights - Michael Jackson outbid them and that is how he wound up with them.

Paul has not been a "Beatle" since 1970 so I don't see how his ill-fated marriage to Heather Mills reflects on his Beatle legacy.

The Beatles were willing to experiment, and not just with drugs. They took music places it had never been and some of it was classic and some of it was "Yellow Submarine". Sure, I wish the Beatles of "Hard Day's Night" remained ever the same but these guys grew up! George Harrison was only twenty when they hit big. Ringo, twenty-three. They were just kids and as they matured so did their music.

Sorry - got on my Beatles soap box! :)

I'm not a Zep fan at all, but I'd still give them credit for being one of the most influencial bands from the era. They are DEFINATELY overplayed though. Our local classic rock station gets at least 1 of 8 possible songs in per hour. It gets old REAL fast

1) "Assbeatings" on the internet don't exist. Only in the minds of small-brained people. You do the math on that one.
2) I don't know Kevin Chalfant as a person, but can't stand his music. It doesn't do anything for me...never has.
3) I don't care about "influence(s)." Have always HATED that argument. Influence merely means you were there first. For example, how could a group like Journey have influenced The Beatles when The Beatles hit the U.S. in 1963 when Steve Perry was a whopping 14? Also, I'm sure someone had to influence The Beatles...not that it matters. So are you saying that the Beatles were "influenced" by Charles Manson when they wrote "Helter Skelter?" McCartney claims he wrote it in response to being accused of writing ballads only. Great choice...recite the mindless ramblings of a psychopath and his hope for a racial uprising. Nice "influence."
4) No "white flag" from me...not now, not ever. YOU are the guy who has quit this board more times than McDonalds has sold hamburgers. YOU are the guy that goes away for the sole purpose of having your ego stroked with "Come Back Deano" threads. YOU are the guy that was fully 100% behind Journey after they butt fucked fans intercontinentally with fraudulent shows and lied about it, only to have you now chastise others that may continue to follow the band because they fired a lead singer that had a whopping 11 month tenure in the band and a catalog of ONE whole (shitty) song. YOU are the one that is "embarrassing." Checkmate.

i love zep.i don't listen 'em much anymore though.they get played to death on radio.however give them their due.besides the stones and the beatles you know zep is one of the top ten most influential bands ever.that box set they put out in 1990 i bought on the day of release and it turned me into a huge fan there for a while.

traveling riverside blues was a great one but you never hear it much these days.

Wow. How serious of you. I try to be a little lighthearted and you call the Army into the Situation Room. Good Lord dude, you think you need to try that hard to compete with me then relax....then again, I just might like the challenge you can bring me so with that, bring it, and while you're at it, stop bragging how your big mouth got you run into a cell in Virginia. THAT is embarrassing.

If you go back to the start of this thread, you made the comment that Led Zeppelin was overrated. That is impossible to defend, like them or not. Same goes with Springsteen. You cannot without making an ass of yourself, say those two bands are or ever have been overrated.

Game over.

Led Zeppelin and Bruce Springsteen are overrated. That's my opinion and I'm not waivering. As for my "big mouth" getting me a 6 hour stay at the Virginia Hilton, I'll stop referring to it when you discontinue the ridiculous notion that you "saved Journey."

Ok, whatever. Call it what you want, but it was MY efforts that affected change. How about exposed Journey, given the ending result we all know happened? That sound right? Do I have an ego because I can say this? No. I can say this because I busted my ass making it happen. Nobody else had the balls to do this so yes, I am mostly responsible.

Hey DRC welcome to MelodicRock. If I may be so bold, until you've been here a while it might be better to steer clear of any dust up involving Saint John and RockinDeano. Until people get to know you they may see you as a shit stirrer and then turn and feed on you.

Just some friendly advice from someone who was there not so long ago. No attack here from me, so take it as you want.

Faaaaaaaaack. I squish spammers all damn day. The last 3 weeks have been horrible. They usually post in the Rock On TV area, so you probably don't see them. Any and Every new member, I check their profile info. All spammers will have the same general bullshit within their info and I can kill them off long before they post.

Well Larry,

If Manarocks can get out from behind the cactus he's hiding behind at the border, and manage to sneak all the way to Pennsylvania by Monday. I was going to let him play calypso music on my trash cans while the real party guests are eating dinner.
