Well, after this last fiasco, I won't give Journey one red cent. And if you think a new cd is coming out, I think you are wrong there. I believe the songwriting well is dried up.

And I will still play my Journey cd's with Perry and JSS.

I'm not holding my breath on them doing anything, but I have to be honest about it.

Now to that Journey cd with JSS, did you combine shows or one complete concert? I have a set from some Cali shows I think Deano posted here.

I found some JSS/Journey boots over at Guitars101 last year.

OK, so by that same logic, people who hate the war, Al Qaeda, and rising gas prices shouldn't talk about them either? The reason people talk about things is because they're interested in them whether that interest is of a positive or a negative nature.

The truth is that Journey is going to go on with or without your approval (or mine for that matter). Anyone who thinks they are going to stop them from whatever path they're on simply because we didn't like a decision they made is deluding themselves. I saw Jeff rock out 3 weeks ago, he is obviously on to bigger and better things....let's take his lead.

Bashing Journey is becoming kinda lame. Like an ex-girlfriend who won't let it go and move on....

The travesty that's using the name Journey now is what's lame. The people who persist in trying to be fans of the current band just because it's called Journey even though they've been failing since 1997 to live up to that name seem more like the girlfriend that won't let go of something that's over.

It's not a crime to still like Journey. I haven't been much of a fan myself since the Perry days, but have never bashed anyone that was.

I don't think anyone said it was a crime to still like them. Whatever bashing of other posters that's gone on has been from both sides of the issue.

Oh I see. Being a fan or not of a classic rock band is on the same level as a war, terrorism, and/or the cost of a resource that affects our daily livelyhood.

Of course it's not on the same level and you know I didn't mean to say that it was. You're just trying to discredit the logic of my post by changing the intent of it.

StoneCold said people shouldn't talk about something they say they hate. He didn't qualify that by saying "unless it's a really serious subject".

My point was that people talk about things that interest them regardless of the reason for that interest. Those of us who have been longtime fans of Journey are interested in the degradation of our band but we sure as hell don't like it.

We want to talk about how much we dislike it just as much as others want to talk about how much they don't care who is in the band as long as it's called Journey.

SF-Dano, ohsherrie, wildchildtwisted.

You're all right in your points. It's semantics at this point.

I wasn't clear in my statement. Yak summed it up best by saying they're really "ex-Journey" fans that want to voice their displeasure. I accept that and agree completely.

But as wildchildtwisted said, to obsess on it ad nauseum get olds. That's what I meant by hypocrisy. We all know if they ever release new material, most of us will be interested, even if its so we can criticize it.

As for talking about stuff we hate, SF-Dano and ohsherrie are on point. Of course we discuss serious things to effect change. But if I "hate" a certain band or music, I won't bother going to a forum about them. Example, I couldn't really care less what's happenning in the rap world.

I appreciate all your comments.

I'm totally with you on this Stonecold. Sure, the band deserved some criticism - but it's getting to the point where I can't face reading this forum now. Maybe it'll become less oppressively whiney soon. Hope so.

Thanks Matthew. Cool avatar dude. That's another great band that could benefit from Jeff fronting them. Both Boston and Queen would be awesome with Jeff as lead.

Queen and Boston both need a strong frontman. I won't even go on about Journey anymore.

Jeff would be awesome fronting Queen. Paul Rogers? Come on, just regroup BadCo. and get him out of there.

I saw those clips of Boston with Michael Sweet which were good but think Jeff would be great.

He could revitalize so many bands its not even funny.

I don't know if Jeff could tolerate Tom Scholz. I do like that idea though. That's one of my top 5 favorite bands.

There's still a lot of fans that want to talk about Journey (regardless of what they may or not be in the future). As RipRokken eloquently posted above. They're not saints, why would I expect them to be anyway?

Hey, StoneCold -- at least two of us agree. It is pretty strange to be in what is largely a Journey forum and see almost nothing but Journey hating... haha! I know it's directed mainly at the current dudes and their fan-unfriendly decisions. Here's another bit of Rokken Reality -- even though many of the hardest-core Journey fans hang out here, we don't make up more than maybe a tiny fraction of their ticket-buying audience. We are like the impossible to please comic-book fanboys that gripe about every comic-to-film translation. Gotta keep that realization in mind -- they aren't going to make every decision on what is popular here (thought it wouldn't hurt them at all to do so).

LOL -- Yeah, it can be true. Take "X-Men" for example, and all the Nazi fanboys who wanted to ensure that Wolverine's claws made the exact same sound they did in the comics (SNIKKKTT!) when they came out. That level of obsession over minutiae only kills the creative process, and I've heard a few directors say they wouldn't touch a comic-to-film translation because hardcore comic cans were impossible to please.

What's funny is that I bet if these fanboys got their every wish, a genuinely boring and crappy movie would be the result, because they don't understand that what works on page doesn't always translate well to screen. They also don't understand that for story adaptations, you can't shoot them scene-for-scene, or there would be nothing fresh for audiences. Why would I want a shot-for-shot version of the comic? I have a theory that with most of these guys, their arguing over minutiae is only a way for them to demonstrate their own breadth of knowledge on the subject, and they let it get in the way of their ability to enjoy something at all. I've heard the guys who review a movie like "Spider-Man" and their review is nothing but a list of all the ways the film differed from the books. In their defense, however, a bad film is still a bad film (the 2nd "Fantastic Four" really comes to mind for me.... haha!)

I'm only making a loose parallel here, because I don't get the impression people are here to make life hell for the guys in Journey. I think everyone here is a genuine fan of the band, and there are definitely plenty of things to debate, for sure. I know one thing for sure, though... If I ever had the chance to meet them (and I do hope to someday), it might make for an awkward moment if they knew I was calling them Frig or Fro on the message boards... :P Know what I mean? I am a fan of the band, and will always look forward to something new from Journey. I may not always like it, but...

Well Mr. Rokken, since you seem to think we are such a SMALL fraction of the fanbase explain why the Journey assholes are spending so much time perusing these boards trying to find out if the fallout from Jeff's dismissal has died down. This is not supposition, it is a fact. They were pissed off that we were lambasting Neal and the Princess so badly.

There is no way to explain this away other than they are using the hardcore fans to gauge the next move and it's timing.

I never said anything to indicate the fans here are small in significance -- just small in number compared to the worldwide ticket-buying audience. That audience includes countless numbers of folks that don't even realize Steve Perry isn't in the band anymore. No doubt the band monitors the board from time to time, and maybe regularly, but they aren't going to cater all their decisions to the folks here, even if we are the hardest of the hardcore fans. They are probably more worried about bad word-of-mouth that might get spread here than anything else, because it is the Internet, ya know? All it takes is for a few people to start slinging crap around on a few message boards, and the bad buzz catches like wildfire.

For what it's worth, someone that seems knowledgeable of the goings-on here recently posted on a different rock board that J.S.S. was let go for getting too close to the fans here who were responsible for "Tapegate". I don't know if there is an ounce of truth to it, but it gives pause for thought when so many people here rag on their band so much. Wouldn't that suck if some of Jeff's own fans inadvertently caused him to get kicked out of the band?

I have another theory that may apply to some of the hard-ass raggers here... Rabid fanboys are often like kids that act out just to get attention of the people they look up to. I betcha if Neal and Jon invited some of these folks out to lunch, spent some quality time with them and made them feel appreciated, without even addressing any of the controversial stuff in conversation, some of those fans would become the biggest nutswingers, willing to fall on their swords for them from that point forward.

Don't get me wrong -- I would never single anyone out and would never want to. I don't pay 2 whit's worth of attention to who says what, and couldn't tell ya if you asked... I only notice a lot of griping about Journey in general in what was once supposed to be a Journey fan forum.

Anyway, that's all's I got to say....

So many naysayers but instead of really giving up AND movin' on down to the JSS forum, these "ex-Journey fans" can't give it up.

I notice no one's been able to refute my point that what happened to Ross and Smitty was equal to or worse than what happened to Jeff.

It's not "rebuilding" as you say. Due to mob mentaility its not popular here to say you'll still support Journey. Your post the perfect example.

Instead of refuting my points, you resort to being snarky. The JSS forum misses you.

First of all, I post here to see what kind of fucking morons(such as you) come here after weekends of trying stuff themselves into their BACK into their spandex and 4 cans of hairspray and see what they have to say. I also have alot of friends here and have been here since 1996 when this whole fucked up band started this whole re-building, scrap it, rebuild, scrap it process. If it's not rebuilding, what the fuck do you call fuck nutz. You are definately a Journey Board insert that has no where to go. This isn't the place for you. I'd shut the fuck up and state facts rather then your opinions because your opinions are that of a first grader....So to begin the week off right....Your right JSS's forum does miss me, but I'm here to follow you around and fuck with you for the week. SO, go fuck your self.

Spandex? No, that was Randy. Hairspray? Man, what an imagination.

Facts are exactly what I put down. No one cried over this stuff happening back then but now the world's coming to an end. Right? Whatever.

From snarks to personal attacks. What an advanced intelligence you must be. Ever heard of the return key?

If you choose to follow me, it'll be fun pointing out your stupidity. You make it too easy.

You think I make it look easy.....Read you posts numnutz.....You're the retard here defending what went on and thinking that there is still even a Journey left. Now that's dumb. Go back to BT. I hear they are opening it up soon....

You think I make it look easy.....Read your posts numnutz.....You're the retard here defending what went on and thinking that there is still even a Journey left. Now that's dumb. Go back to BT. I hear they are opening it up soon....Journey is DEAD. There is no Journey. The are a rib and wing cook out band at best. As the crowd gets in for free at those gigs......

But as for leaving, I'm not going anywhere, this is a cool place to speak your mind.

So does that mean that you now agree that those of us who are fed up with what's been done to our band have a right to speak our mind here?
