That was fucking amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And he nailed the moon walk. 8)

The last two minutes are just mesmerizing. LOVE the way he literally struts around that stage. I really think he was the greatest talent of our generation.

I'm watching Beat It from the same show and I can't stop shaking my head. I already considered the guy the best ever, but he's even better than I realized. The gap between him and second best is light years.

True. Usher did that one performance everyone raved about two years ago or so. It isn't even in the same galaxy as Michael. I had never seen this. Absolutely brilliant performance, untouchable. I used to love seeing clips of him on awards shows performing. He was tall with a dancer's body and even just walking out on stage the way he carried himself you loved to watch. He had his own style in the way he dressed with shorter pants that absolutey always worked for him with his body and his simple white T-shirts he loved.

Thanks for those links, I'm gonna really enjoy watching them all.

It's almost impossible, but if I had to pick the single greatest performance I've seen by him, it'd probably have to be this one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UDTxu6IGWw

Everyone owes to themselves to watch it the whole way through at least once. It's jaw dropping.

sorry....I haven't read this entire thread, but has Steve Perry come out with any sort of statement about singing with MJ on "we are the world?"

Yeah, he released some self indulgent rambling diatribe about seeing his own name in duct tape at the We Are The World rehearsals. He also mentioned that he had a "step-out" part during the song. No real mention of condolences, the man's kids or any other sort of sympathetic gesture. This, however, could just be an excerpt, but considering it came from Fan Asylum I'm guessing it was the entire interview.

Wow, you're just desperate to dump on the Nostril's tails any chance you can get! lol....

I didn't see anything self indulgent in what he said....

....listen, I think Perry's stepped on alot of dead bodies over the years (please, pun was *not* intended)....and he certainly deserves a little shame for what he's done to journey...

but I think you gotta take your shots at him, when they're justified. It just takes the umph out of all of the shots, when they're desperately squeezed off like this.

When you're asked about to comment about the death of someone and you need to plug your "step-out" solo, comment on how Lionel Ritchie called you and how your name was in duct tape on the floor I don't see how you can think of it as anything but a self absorbed statement. Though I do think Perry meant well.

Dan, the question was "What are some of your memories of working with Michael Jackson on "We Are The World""... he did say he didn't spend any time with MJ... he was just talking about the memory of that day.. what's the big deal?

And he had plenty nice to say about Michael....

"For the longest period of time, I really wanted to meet Michael Jackson but for whatever reason, it just never happened. During the recording session, I remember how barraged Michael was with so many artists trying to talk to him. Out of respect, I left him alone."

He respected the man and didn't want to bug him. That isn't nice? He had great things to say, and because one story about the day that recording was done didn't have to do with MJ, you say it's self-absorbed... didn't you read the rest of it?

"...I finally got to meet and talk to Michael. He was very gracious and made me feel very welcome. I felt so lucky to stand stage left while they ran the entire, full dress rehearsal of the show. What an experience to watch him perform that close up!"

"Michael's total body of work is so beautiful and massive that it's really impossible to have any one favorite. I know that every single time he released new music, the quality was always amazing and cutting edge. No artists ever wanted to release their music at the same time that Michael’s was released simply because the anticipation and subsequent sales from his records was too much for anyone to compete with."

"Michael was always reaching for great songs, great vocal performances, better recording and production values, better and better music videos with new dance moves, and great sing along hooks that are still to this day, truly timeless."

But I don't think that was the question...and please correct me if I'm wrong.

I thought he was asked to recall the "We Are The World" session. Which to me, his response was perfectly adequate...

He's just being his usual abrasive self when the name "perry" is mentioned. SP had some really nice things to say. I think Dan stopped scrolling at the picture. His secret love for Perry got in the way he gazed longingly, forgetting there was more text underneath it.

What a fucking bitch! :x

Separate the 3 kids to live with someone they barely even know. Money truly IS the root of all evil.

Money the root of all evil? What do you expect from man's most powerful and utilized tool on the entire planet! With money, one can get almost anything. You can get a house, food, keep your teeth up to par, and only really attractive women go out with the men with the most money. Plus if your rich enough, you can even get a kidney transplant without even being on the mile long waiting list, which many of those on that list end up dying before ever receiving theirs anyways.

I always loved this song anyway - it's one of my faves of his, along with "Rock With You" and "The Way You Make Me Feel."
And watching and listening to this clip I got goosebumps.

Less is more as proved by this clip. Simple yet fabulous.

Thanks for the link GB.

Wait, lip syncing is now completely forgivable here?

Grow up! Me not liking Michael Jackson has NOTHING to do with my peace and you're presumption on what has or hasn't happened to me in my life....

Deal with it....I didn't find the person very talented....the fact that he violated little boys drunk on Jesus Juice didn't help.

Sorry if I'm not going to forgive such a vile act, just so I can appreciate some dancing.......something I don't really give two shits about under the best of circumstances....

Show me a fucking video where the guy is actually singing.......and I'll be perfectly happy to view it and show my appreciation for it, if it deserves it. But fancy moves and a lip synced track is no different than Milli Vanilli. They had great stage presence and fantastic moves too!

Probably one of his top 5 greatest performances ever. I don't know any performer who can sing live and dance like that.
