Shit, If they want an ABSOLUTE Perry Clone they HAVE to go with Hugo. He is Steve's stunt double.

It's a little known fact but when the White Sox won the World Series two years ago, Hugo and NOT Steve Perry was with the team for the entire American League playoffs. It was Steve who sent Hugo in his place. The actual Steve Perry didnt make an appearance until the World Series.

No one can tell em apart!!!!!

LMAO!!

Honestly though, Hugo couldn't carry Jeremey's jock strap. Hugo sounds fantastic when he sings Valentine music, but when he does Journey, he's very thin. Jeremey's voice has power to spare.

Heya Jeremy,

After listening to "I Believe".... I think you should be the choice..... here's why...

Your performance on this song makes it plainly obvious you have the tools to sing the whole Perry-era catalog... and not just from a tribute singer standpoint... you have no problem range wise, you have no problem with tone.... the "Difference" is the ease with which you convey emotion in the lyric... THAT is what made Perry... well Perry... that IMHO opinion was (and still is) Perry's true "gift"... that ability to connect the lyric with the emotion, and then connect that with the listener...
you can deliver that... I'm pretty sure that folks would come around once they hear those soaring vocals with the band.... because in the live context it truly is about "being in the moment"..

I hope there was some chemistry with you, Jon and Neal... the kind of chemistry that would lend itself to inspired writing... the kind that comes from a fresh perspective, a chance at finding that place where the music is "new" again...

kudos to you my friend... you've been a standup man through all of this.... just as Mr. Perry would.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Hugo is pretty good at replicating the sound, but NOT the emotion. His voice is thin and lacks any emotive qualities on the JOURNEY covers. Jeremey, on the other hand, brings those songs to LIFE. Something I'm quite sure he'd be able to do if he ever has the chance to write some original music with the guys.

Whereas other tribute singers sing in 2 or 3 dimensions, Jeremey sings in 4 dimensions. Height, Depth, Width, and that 4th one of magical power, technique, and control that blows me away. I'm having a hard time explaning this.
Does that make sense?

Good point, Fyre. Is Jeremey's voice naturally similar to Perry's? Anyone ever heard an original song by him?

Yeah, a couple were posted recently. Let me see if I can dig them up for you. You will love them, they sound like they belong on FTLOSM.

Cheers NIG...

Here you go. Courtesy of conversationpc.

Rolling Away the Stone and One By One are the ones to listen to.

Wow...that is uncanny....

Yes...very like the FLTOSM/TBF era....Requiem is possibly the winning track for me so far...but I'm liking all four....

Thanks for posting this NIG....

And Jeremey - why oh why is this project on hold? This is MILES better than most of the melodic rock I've heard in the last few years.

First time I've heard these pieces...have to admit it is very much in the vein of FTLOSM/TBF - can actually picture these songs on them...and, obviously I love THAT music of SP's. Should be interesting to see EXACTLY what JRNY wants for their future because Jeremey's voice is very Perryesque....how will he sing otherwise if it is what his voice is, yet not be a clone? :?

I was extremely pissed when I found out they dumped SP, SA and now JSS... and as much as I said I did...I guess I just don't want to see this band go away.

They may as well stop the auditions now, I am really impressed with Jeremey and I think he is as close "sonically" to the Journey legacy as they can get, and it sounds to me like he has the pipes to tour w/o blowing out his vocals.

I just hope it's not going to be a nostalgia thing only... new music or nothing for me.

That being said I will give the band a chance w/ Jeremey, only condition NEW MUSIC.

Jeremey,

Congratulations on the baby, and the audition!

No matter what happens, you're a hero and a winner already. If Journey passes on this opportunity with you, at least please carry on with the Elemental stuff, its amazing. Possibly the best MR stuff since 80s Journey, and that's the truth.

I'll give you a few reasons:

1. http://www.journeytributeband.com/elementaltunez.htm

2. Just auditioned for the greatest MR band of all time.

3. Became a father

4. all the above, while having a day job and singing in a pretty killer band

Wait just a fucking second here! You're going to try and tell me you lump rock and roll band members in the hero mold with firemen, police, and military!? What fucking planet do you come from dude? Fire, police and military intentionally throw themselves into harms way to protect other people. Correct me if I'm wrong here but I've NEVER heard one single story of a rock star running into a burning building to rescue someone. I did not see one rock star in the picture the day that those two asshole out in California started a fucking war with the police on the city streets. I definitely did not see one rock star donning the Kevlar vest and joining in the hunt for Osama over in Afghanistan. So do me a favor and pull your pud on your own time and don't try and think while jerking off, it clouds your ability for clear and intelligent thought.

Don't mean to discourage ya little one, but hero, as many as lots of words in English have a variety of different uses and meanings. Really!

There is a nifty mind expanding book called the dictionary, that might interest you. Here is a small excerpt from one that might interest you:

HERO
he·ro n., pl. he·roes. 1. In mythology and legend, a man, often of divine ancestry, who is endowed with great courage and strength, celebrated for his bold exploits, and favored by the gods.

2. A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life: soldiers and nurses who were heroes in an unpopular war.

3. A person noted for special achievement in a particular field: the heroes of medicine. SEE SYNONYMS AT CELEBRITY.

4. The principal male character in a novel, poem, or dramatic presentation.

I hope this will be helpful for you. Don't want you to look foolish or something.

I don't know many people that ascribe to this definition of "hero". Most people think of a hero as one of the professions already mentioned, someone who saves another person's life, etc.

If you were sitting next to me I'd have to give you a big man-hug (followed by a shot to the nose).

What are you talking about? EVERYBODY'S a hero. If you don't believe that or if you think heroism is only for those who risk their lives in the line of duty then you've got some learnin' to do!

A hero is ANYONE who's admired for any number of qualities - period. I don't mind saying that I admire your genuinely kind and friendly nature. I don't want to go any further just in case my manhood falls into question! I also admire that you ROCK. You started playing guitar late in the game but you STARTED. Many people only THINK about doing something and then never do it for whatever lame reason.

Anyway, if you don't believe that then you could at least look at it like this: if you think you're at "zero" then you've got nowhere to go but somewhere!

I think the more proper word would be "idol" or "inspiration" maybe...
Definitely not Hero...

Single Parents are Heroes.
Teachers that give alittle extra are Heroes.
Cops, Firemen, Military, Doctors, Scientists, Inventors... I would call them Heroes.

And I think I know a thing or 2 about a thing or 2 on this subject, right? :D

And yet another reason that our society is fucked. People like yourself placing celebrities on pedestals above TRUE heroes. I really hope that if your house ever burns down, Friga and Fro get there in time. And I do not give a rats ass what the definition in the dictionary says but I am glad you could pull yourself away from your rock and roll hero shrine long enough to go look it up. Watch those candles dude they cause thousands of fires in the home every year.

Just wanted to clarify that when I called Jeremey a hero, I was in no way suggesting or encouraging him to rush into a burning building or any other life threatening courageous act.

Just wanted to be clear on that. 8)
