Hey all....GO PATS!!! 8)

(Sorry....CT gal here....had to say it  )

Did you see the commercial? Too funny! They talk about the "Key Ingredients" of what makes a good commercial....they ranged from "Cute Kid" to "Cute Animal", "Hot Women", etc....

And THEN:

"Famous Pop Song" - "Don't Stop Believin'"- which they played as the outro!!

Hmmmm...can't get much better placement than that....

It sure seems that way doesn't it?
What threw me for a loop was the recent car commercial which utilized "Just the Same Way" in their ad. I mean, mainstream rock radio staples like "DSB" or "AWYWI" I can understand.
But, "Just the same way"?
Is that tune even widely known?
To us it is, yes.
And yes, occasionally you hear it on rock radio, but when people think Journey, most people do not know that song.
More peculiar, I think the majority of the song in the ad featured Gregg's vocal part.
So if they were trying to capitalize on people's penchant for Journey, they certainly didn't do a good job of it. Perry's voice is most synonymous with classic Journey, not Greggs', so why not play Perry's part of the tune? It's just a bad advertising strategy. Heck, while they're at it, why not just use the instrumental opening to Red 13.
It bears about as much a resemblance to old school Journey as hearing Gregg.
It was almost like they were camouflaging the fact that they had paid for and were using a classic Journey tune.
Doesn't make sense to me.
