I think it is safe to say that you feel that way simply because he 'replaced' Perry. And when was the last concert you saw with Steve. I would agree that Steve did not have much presence for the Vacation's Over Tour in 1998. He started off timid (understandable given the position he was in) and warmed up through the night. Arrival still showed him a little timid for the first song or two. But by Under The Radar he OWNED the stage and the audience!

Steve said this? Where? I find it hard to believe that Steve would say that all Neal was someone who sounded like Perry. I also doubt anyone in Journey has confirmed that Neal wanted 'no one that would be so good as to make Neal take a backseat again.'

I would not agree, although I wouldn't mind if he would bring it back a little. His solos are great, but what made Neal's guitar such a signature voice of Journey (as Perry said) was his melodic playing. Neal has acted a little like a kid in a candy store. He finally has room so he is running with it. Understandable, but I think he will see this.

WOW, here is the biggest disagreement I have! I don't see that at all. Steve has made these songs his own now. He is not singing them like Perry, he sings them as himself. He has been singing the songs for 7 years now and he feels them. I think he can associate them as his now. I know that is blasphemous to Perry-only fans. But I mean that he is comfortable with them and comfortable with his place in Journey. So he can sing the songs from his heart! Again I ask when was the last time you saw the band? If it was more than 4 years ago than your opinions are dated and that makes it hard to see the validity.

So who would you have in mind?
And I thought you were one of the people who felt the guys should not have kept the name Journey? But now you say they could have gone on with someone else?
