Randy Didn't Look Too Happy!

On American Idol, last Wed., R.Jackson looked stunned when the most recent contestant was voted out.
I favor Anthony. I think that he has a pure, natural voice. A lot of the others are like many other good singers and not outstanding imo. Anyone else have a favorite?

I wonder if the others razz Randy about his attire while touring for Raised On Radio? They ought to show a few clips now and than, just for the fun of it. I think that he was a fine additiion to the overall sound of the album.
I wonder if it's true that he asked Steve to be a guest judge? How great would that be?

I'm hoping that Anthony will noodle a bit of Cooke or Perry into his voice on this next song. A show of confidence. That was something that Perry always seemed to have. Confidence in his voice and you could see it on his face. Anthony needs that, imo.

In Perry's latest Q & A, he was asked if he would be guesting on Idol. His answer was an emphatic "No"

He also said he has NEVER seen the show! Hard one to believe, but if it's true, why would he get asked, when there are so many other musicians who DO watch, and would like to contribute!

What do you do, HOTS, eat, breathe, and sleep Steve Perry, stalker-style???

Thanks for answering my question about Perry guesting Idol yak. Shows you how much I hang on Perrys every word.

Just trying to keep this topic Journey related.

Be a sweetie and tell me who your pick is to win. :?:

I agree with Metal Ed. Carrie or Bo. But who knows? The public is fickle. This year there are so many talented contestants on Idol.

Now how about answering my stalker question?

 Nawwwww!I'm too busy to be a stalker.

I wonder if Bo's attitude about it not being a big deal if he was dropped ot not and that his being there was just on a bet with his Mom will cause him to lose votes.
I agree with you that they are all good but none that stand out. If I heard any of them on the radio, I doubt if I'd know it. Carrie is just another country singer but not, imo, exceptional.

Not that Anthony is exceptional but he could be yet. He has a true voice and just needs to let it all hang out, imo.

Thanks for being a sweetie!

Are you guys picking Bo or Carrie to win because you figure they might or are they who you really like the best?I'm not insinuating so don't get angry.

I think , as Randy does, that Anthony gets better each time. A little more confident with each performance.

I bet that Anthony could do justice to "Open Arms"

Dude, notice you were the only one who posted on this topic? I am more interested to know what happened between Paula Abdul and the contestant..A little fun perhaps??

Anthony has a young pure voice as Perry did when he sang that song, N.C.

Perrys voice matured so wonderfully and each stage of his vocals was predictable.

It wouldn't be trying to imitate as Augari is doing. It would be just singing a beautiful song in his, Anthonys, own style.

So what Deano? Will you wait until there are just two to pick from before you post a favorite or are you afraid to pick a loser?

What's the harm in this topic? There isn't much to post on until the new Journey c.d. comes out and it would be interesting to see what the people that I've been posting with for years think about the Idol singers. We certainly don't agree on what good Journey music is all about so come on, post a Idol pick. It will be too late when it is down to just two as it will be trying for a winner instead of a favorite.

Andrew, how about you? :?:

Anthony is no where near as good as a young Steve Perry. Anthony is good, but he doesn't hold a candle to Infinity-era Perry.

Not true at all. I have a FTLOSM bootleg where Perry's attempt at Open Arms is enough to make dogs howl. It is simply horrible.

I'm sorry, but I fail to see what you are saying here. Frankly, I don't think you know exactly what you are saying either. Anthony and Steve Augeri are both clearly two talented men with a high vocal range. Both are fully capable of singing the song, Open Arms.
If Anthony were to sing Open Arms and according to you, it would NOT be immitating, but rather, it would be performed in his own unique Anthony-style, then how isn't "Open Arms" currently being sung in Augeri's own unique style every night of the tour?

Look, I have bootlegs ranging from Augeri's debut in 1998 to as recently in 2004, I've also seen him live 4 times and not a once have I ever heard Augeri try to conciously emulate Perry's speaking voice, his stage mannerisms or anything of the sort.
It has always sounded to me like Steve Augeri singing with Journey.

There isn't any. In fact, I agree with you, I too, am rooting for Anthony. Easily, the most talented male vocalist on the show.

No no, nothing wrong at all. I was just razzin him because I would say most guys don't really get into AI. This whole Paula crap has got to go. She is an embarrassment.

I was pulling for Constantine, and thought he would win it. Look, a guy is going to win it, it's their turn. However Vonshell sang her ass off on that Aguilara song didn't she? That pencil geek should go..he sucks.

Are you nuts? That "pencil geek" has quite a set of pipes . While HOTS says he reminds her of Perry, I find his voice somewhat reminiscent of Deyoung. Just an all around great voice. Who cares if he looks "geeky", the guy's got talent. He reminds me of previous Idol cast member, Clay Aiken only with a larger, improved range.

Constantine deserved to get the boot. That guy is strictly karaoke hour quality. All his rock star attitudinizing and posing makes me cringe. Where's the actual talent?
Furthermore, just how many times can one man kick towards the camera during a song? He sucked.

I've read that most of Constantine's fans are now picking up on Anthony. Anthony has to have a stunning performance tomorrow to stay in the running.
I have to admit that Scott is unique. If I heard his voice unannounced, on the radio, I'd know who it was but not so on the others. Anthony could make himself outstanding yet. The others are like carbon copies, imo.

Corey Clark tried that a couple of seasons ago, or maybe it was last season, and he absolutely killed the song! He's the dude that is making those lewd claims on Paula Abdul. Let's see if she sues, which would be the logical road to take...IF it isn't true.

Constantine was a showboat, nothing more, and Paula's fawning over him week after week was uncomfortable to watch.

Anthony seems to be coming into his own and has an interesting story about being very ill as a child, and is very blessed to be here at all.

 So Hottsie, why so infatuated with Anthony? You like 'em young, do ya'?

Oh yak, you're such a kidder! I just picked a contestant some time back and am enjoying his progess. He's got to find a way to stand out tho.

Was his illness the reason for his trach scar? I guess that I hadn't tuned in to Idol when that was news. What happened?

Are they going to sing two songs each this time? Read it somewhere. That has got to be quite an accomplishment. I think that they do a fantastic job getting just one song ready from week to week.

This is my first year for watching Idol so I don't know what went down before.

I'm sure that all the backstage gossip is great for Idol's ratings and ABC is jumping on the bandwagon. Tomorrow and Wed. should be interesting, to say the least.
