Escape, the song. Yeah, I used to have the vinyl, then CD, but over the years, poof! Anyway, does anyone on this Journey board, know what the band is saying when they are singing background vox during the last chorus?

Perry will sing, "Oooh, I'll break away, yes I'm on my way..(and the rest of the band is singing something completely different)..sounds good too.

Anyone?

I believe the line is "Moving on, I'm leaving. I'm leaving here today" (need to replay it to be 100% sure)

I think mnmsjrny is on the right track.

I've always heard " I'm going, I'm leaving, on my way to anywhere"

But that's just an edjimucated guess.

Personally, the multi-leveled vocals bit has always been one of my favorite aspects of Journey. IMO it's something that really sets them apart from other bands. I hope they do more of it on "Generations".

I don't like it on "Ask The Lonely" Perry is great but the backup vocals sound screwed up to me. Only on that song. imo

From the FAQ at journey-tribute.com:

3.24 WHAT THE HECK IS SAID AT THE END OF THE SONG ESCAPE?

While Steve Perry sings "I'll break away, yes I'm on my way" Neal, Jon, and Ross sing: "Yes I'm gone, I'm going. I'll be leavin here today, movin on, I'm leavin, I'll be leavin here today."

Gee HOTS, I always liked the way they put that background a beat behind the lead. I think it's a nice counterpoint to the splendid harmony in the chorus.

I've tried ohsher, but it always sounds off to me. I like it in other of their songs but that one just dosen't do it for me. I love everything else about the song tho.

Monker- You are incredible. I didn't know Journey's catalog was numerically stored.

Thanks Monk...
