Anyone know anything about this?

I didn't make this up, it's a real news release.

Indo-Asian News Service
London, May 20, 2005

In a suprise move or struggle for control of a once very popular rock band,
legendary guitarist Neal Schon has been booted by his bandmates from the band he
helped to found. In an interview via conference call Journey keyboardist
Jonathan Cain (the Babys/Bad English) had this to say, "It is regrettable to
announce, but the band has just decided to move on. We made the same demand of
Deen (Journey's current drummer) and he chose to quit Neal's new band Soul
Sirkus, but Neal thought we were beyond our reaches. However, since Neal was an
equal as partner as me in Journey, along with Ross' and Deen's smaller shares,
we were able to combine our votes legally and oust Neal."

Schon indicated in a prepared statement that he would seek further legal
recourse, but sources say it probably want matter. "The damage is already done.
If Schon regains rights to the name Journey, Journey would have to continue
without Cain, Valory, and Deen." an industry insider is quoted as saying.

With no Cain, Valory or Deen, who would Schon get to replace them? Or would he
just let the name die over a power struggle?

Some say that Steve Smith, Greg Rollie and Steve Perry just mught fit the bill,
but the idea of that happening is slim to none.

So for now Journey will continue on with three different guitarist scheduled to
tour with Journey. Cain says," Joe Satriani....yeah, that's right...Satch will
be filling in for part of the tour, Josh Ramos (The Storm/Ramos/Two
Fires/Hardline) will be around and an old friend Steve Harris (Shy) will be
aboard for a few shows." When pressed for a permanent replacement, Ross Valory
(Steve Miller Band/The Storm) chipped in, "Steve Harris and Josh Ramos are who
we have our eye on right now."

With the loss of Neal Schon, Journey is down to just one original member, Ross
Valory. Valory says of this, "We have had several drummers, a couple of bass
players, and several singers in this band. Journey shall continue to grow,
though I really am going to miss Neal. Neal was the one constant. It really is a
business decision rather than a personl or artistic thing, you know....."

SCHON NOT CUT FROM JOURNEY:
It's really sad I even have to clarify this, but it seems a rumor is circulating that Neal Schon was fired from Journey. This is not only absurd, but 100% incorrect and couldn't be further from the truth. Please ignore any fake press releases/articles indicating that this has happened.
All the guys of Journey are doing great and looking forward to the release of the Generations record this Summer.

I can't even believe this required formal repudiation (first from JSS, then Andrew, and then Deen).
The thing doesn't even sound remotely legit.
"Satriani joining Journey" yeah, ok, right  lol
And that's not even the most egregious of all the dead give-aways.

If you believed this for even a second (and this goes for anyone), then I hate to break it to you; you're probably retarded.

If you didn't make it up, somebody else did...and I think you KNOW it was invented.

If it's a real story, post the link to the article on the Indo-Asion News Service....otherwise, you are full of it, and you know it.

Who's JSS? Do you mean Andrew from here? Is he affiliated with Journey in some capacity?

If Neal gave up Journey for Soul SirkUS, then he would prove Herbie Herbert right - he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer! I think Andrew is correct, it is just a manufactured story to casue trouble.

JSS is Jeff Scott Soto. He is the lead singer of Neal's project, Soul Sirkus (and has sung on many other distinguished musical endeavors). He has been out on the road with Neal nearly every day these past months, he was the first to officially debunk this piss-poor attempt at a rumour.

JourneyTroll wrote:Do you mean Andrew from here? Is he affiliated with Journey in some capacity?

No, nor does he have to be in order to officially classify this story as tripe. Andrew runs a melodic rock news website, if there was such an official press release floating about, don't you think we'd have heard all about it here first? As it is, this site gets Journey news long before the band's own official site.

But you knew the answers to all these questions already (didn't you?), and this is really just a part of a typical Troll-esque ruse.

JT, demontooth Copy and Pasted the news update from the Front Page of www.melodicrock.com where Andrew (yes, the Andrew from THIS site) refuted the bogus "news" story. JSS also refuted the story on the Noticeboard of THIS site and Deen has refuted the story on Back Talk.

Thank you, Dave. I had no idea who JSS was. Also, I thought everyone was talking about Andrew at this site but wasn't sure.

The story didn't make sense at all, and I couldn't find a link to support this story.

This is the second time now you've posed this question.
Here's a radical idea...
If you're really interested in the meaning, then instead of waiting around for our resident Aussie webmaster to find a spare moment, how about using a search engine and finding out the meaning for yourself?

Google results for "taking the piss" (found in 0.29 seconds)

1. taking the piss
Definition: Making fun of something or someone/to do or say something for the hell of it
Example)
"Hey, Jim, you're fat."
"No, I'm not!"
"Naw, you're not really fat; I was just taking the piss."

2. taking the piss
Definition: joking around/to say something without intent
Example)
"Is Lola being serious or is she just taking the piss?"

Well, inthis particular example, JourneyTroll is playing dumb inorder to make some kind of lame point or make himself look stupid (if you ask me).

So it appears he is making stupid questions (or taking the piss) with the topic.

The Troll frequently "extracts the urine" to try to be amusing, unfortunately for him I've never found him to be so.

No Monker, I didn't make it up, but I don't have a link because the article was emailed to me. I don't even know what this news organization is. My only reason for posting it was to get information about it, but as usual, I got more flack than fact.

I had no reason to KNOW it wasn't true because even Neal's fans have complained about his lack of commitment to the band they call Journey.

Oh, come on.

Joe Satriani touring with Journey?!?!
Lady, are you for real?
The guys' playing style is nothing even remotely like Neals'.

Either you're lying, suspecting it was a fake all along, or you are pleading total and utter musical ignorance here.
