Comments on "Faith in the Heartland" sample

I've listened to a few times now and it isn't as catchy as the first sample, but there is also some real cool stuff in it..although the chorus seems a little flat at first listen. This doesn't bring any previous Journey song to mind. The geeetar is more prominent.

Agree

I like it a lot, but it doesn't grab me as much as the first sample. Great guitar sound. It actually reminds me a little of Tall Stories. I see that the song is credited to Jonathan, Neal & Steve. Actually, as I'm typing this, I've listened to it a few more times. I think it's got a lot of potential and can't wait to hear the rest of song.

I was just gonna say that the style was a cross between Tall Stories and a little U2....

Where did you get the sample?

I agree - doesn't grab me as quickly as The Place in Your Heart, but I like it. I don't hear the U2 comparison. Augeri's voice sounds fantastic in both clips IMO. Overall, these 2 clips are getting me very pumped to hear the entire CD. If it is between these two songs, TPIYH is a much better choice for radio.

Frontiers sent it in an e-mail to make up for all the problems with the first clip. Subscribing to their newsletter is free.

Hey, I like it as good as the first clip. I like the moving sensation, the guitar soars...

The lyrics remind me of the Jimmy Barnes classic, "Workin' Class Man" which I believe was written by Cain. As the title suggests, I read into as being a "blue collar" song..about the early risers and "do what's right" guy. Anyone else? IMO, too short of clip to get total handle on..

I believe Andrew said this song was 6 or 7 minutes long. That is not very radio friendly, so that's probably why it's a little harder to get a grasp on from just a 2 minute soundbyte.
As opposed to "Place in Your Heart" which seems more suited for radio from by it's instantly catchy and repeating chorus.

Ok. Listened to it twice now.....

I can hear the U2 element (be it intentional or not).
Opening riffs sound slightly like "Can't Tame the Lion" (only slightly).
Def. hear the Tall Stories element; especially in the way the song opens up which seems like a direct homage to Tall Stories.
Fans of that particular album will know exactly what I am talking about.

The chorus is catchy, however, as Andrew said, "some of choruses of Generations are not as immediate as those on Arrival, but have more depth."
-I think this might be one of 'em.

I like what I hear, still, bearing in mind that this track is 7 minutes in length, its worth noting that we really haven't even heard a mere fraction of what this song's really all about.

I actually like this one better than TPIYH. This one seems to be a more straight forward rock song while the other is more a rock/love song.

I did hear a slight U2 influence, but that's fine because I thought "Vertigo" sounded a little Journeyish at times!

Definitely bodes well for the album as a whole! :D

CAN'T WAIT!!! :P

Very "Tall Stories" in a GREAT way!
The opening is still reminiscent of something else but can't put my finger on it right now. That is to be expected from a band with a "signature sound".

This track must do a lot of different things to be 6-7 minutes and keep us interested! I am looking forward to it!

Funny that this clip is shorter than the first but the song is much longer!! :D

This was a welcome surprise in mu mailbax this morning. And it is in the works that I will have "Generations" around the 4th of July!! Then, we will see what this is REALLY all about!

yeah, but didn't you hear the new singer go flat? See, it seems to me he was straining to be heard.... Just another flash in the pan. Won't sell at all. That guitar guy is just hogging all the song too. This cd will not rock, and you heard it here first!

Isn't it great to have new music coming from our favorite band? It's gonna be a great summer...

Thoughts:

I like it :D

I like this sample too. Of course, I'd like to hear more of it. I also didn't think it started at the beginning.

This sample is different than the first one, which is a good thing, because it must mean there will be a good variety of songs on the new Journey album! :D

Continuing on with the Journey.......

 Perhaps the full version of Faith In The Heartland will be released as a single? It sure sounds like it's HIT material, that's for sure and definitely suitable for modern ROCK radio formats.
