RIDICULOUS
That is how great Castronovo sings. This guy has Perry's voice - it is really amazing. The track is my favorite of the newest three, but not as good as "Place in Your Heart". I like the energy of this song a lot, it moves and keeps moving. After listening to all 3 of the newest - this one has stuck in me head the most....

Sounds good. Catchy, reminiscent of "To Be Alive Again" in some parts. You can always count on Jack Blades' involvement to spawn a solid classic rock song. His Journey songs on Arrival were highlights there, as well. The other songs on this album are a little more ambitious than this one, I think, and they deviate from the standard arena anthem or love ballad mold.
Deen sounds good here, but I swear in concert he sounded even better.
He doesn't sound nearly as high pitched as he did live.
I have bootlegs were he sounded more pristine and sharp, I don't know why, but for some reason he sounds a tad restrained or muffled here.
I wonder why that is (maybe just my shit labtop speakers acting up??).
I really anticipated Deen's vocal track to make Augeris' pale in comparison.
From what I'm hearing though, Augeri still (easily) reigns supreme!
TOTALLY WOWED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just listened to "It's never to late". WOW!! I've never heard Dean sing before. He sounds so much like Perry. I still can't believe it. I feel sorry for Augeri now. I'm serious. He sounds 100 times more like Perry than Augeri does. Good grief.............
Yes and No

Augeri's vocal distinctiveness is a good thing IMO.
It sets him apart from Perry and enables the band to evolve while still having someone on stand-by to respectably cover the catalog.
For the casual fan who only knows the Perry-sung songs from the radio though, you'd be right, it is to Augeri's detriment.

I have to wonder, does Deen purposely want to sound Perryesque? From what I've heard of this song, it doesn't sound like one of the stronger tracks....

Andrew disagrees with you...
But perhaps the band does not and this is why they have relegated the track to mere "bonus" stature.
I think it sounds catchy, not blown away by it like Andrew was (then again he has the advantage of hearing the entire thing).

Yeah, I for one DO NOT want him to sound like Perry...
You know who Deen sounds like...That singer from triumph, IMO

Yes, Let's let Deen have his OWN talent & NOT compare him to Steve Perry. For ME, Perry has that "one of a kind voice" that no one can duplicate.
Lori
Keep your Perry-agenda away from "Generations" thr

It'll be interesting to hear his take on G. Tickner's project. Anybody know the status of that one?

I was expecting to be blown away by this, based on Andrew's report. I have never heard Deen sing before so I had no idea what to expect. It is good, he is close to Steve, based on my crappy computer speakers I would not have realized right away that it was not Steve singing. It's a good song, but I will not "miss" it on the US version...
Still, all in all, these are great samples and I am SO excited for this CD!

No, I'm offering legitimate commentary.
Journey 2005 is lame.
Perry or bust.

It is clear you are not a Journey fan, which is fine, but this is a place for Journey fans.

I am a fan of classic Journey. This stuff is lame... it's a good thing they are not charging for it but rather giving it away.
LOL

1. You are not a fan of Journey - you are a fan of Steve Perry.
2. If you think it is lame, please explain why....and you had better listened to it first

I have now heard 5 clips from Generationsall of which have been of a very high quality.Dean has a fantastic voice, if he sounds Perryesque who cares is, this really a bad thing. Not in my opinion.
I love Steve Perry, but it was his choice to leave Journey no one elses, let the other guys carry on and make music for us, the real fans who want new music from a great band.

Yes, I did listen to the sound clip! The small amount of what I heard of the song was ok. I think Deen has his own talent, but I wouldn't say he sounded like Steve Perry at all.

At all? Not even a little bit?
I hear Deen for Deen. I hear some pretty strong similarities between Perry and Deen. But I don't think he sounds exact, or even any more like Perry than Steve does. I can hear their own voices too.
The song is good, but I like Out Of Harms Way so much more!
