People leaving before the interval..........Augeri sings 1 song in first hour.....my first ever Journey show, trust me to choose the tour in which they start the show with a 10 minute instrumental ........I pray that they change things around as they are turning into a joke on this tour, I have a friend who has seen them last week and he was gone 10 minutes into the second half of the show......too many self indulgent solos and Schon and Cain making Gary Moore,s vocals sound good......
Mr Schon...
For Frups sake let the singer SING
I hope the band sort out this mess before Tampa......

Hey Darren, want some advice? Sell your tickets. They aren't changing the set THAT much. A joke? Oh ok, dude. 99% of all reviews were "awesome." If you want the greatest Hits, go buy it.
PS- How the fuck do YOU know they are turning into a joke? Have you been to a show?

Can you tell me why they wont let the singer sing ?
Is Augeri on his way out after this tour to be replaced on Vocals by Ross Valory ?
I dont understand why they have someone with a great voice strumming a guitar for an hour.........and I admit I became a Journey fan around the release of Escape so the pre Perry days mean nothing to me.......and I want to hear the hits as I have never seen Journey live, there is nothing wrong in that.........This is not an attack on anyone but a simple question....If Perry was back in the band like alot of people on here want (Not me personally i think Augeri is great) would he be sat around for an hour before singing a note ?.........I just dont get it........BUT i will give the band an honest review in September and I will be here singing the bands praises if i enjoy them.

Funny. Have you ever stopped to think they were playing for 3.5 hours, and Augeri could use a little help? Besides, this Band has earned the right to do whatever they wish.

There is more to Journey than just the hits. Not everyone wants to just hear the hits.
......and I want to hear the hits as I have never seen Journey live, there is nothing wrong in that
If you "can put up with the first hour of the show, you WILL hear the hits.
.........This is not an attack on anyone but a simple question....If Perry was back in the band like alot of people on here want
On here? Are you fucking high? I can tell you EXACTLY how many people want him back here..3 people..aka, the "heads."
BUT i will give the band an honest review in September and I will be here singing the bands praises if i enjoy them.
That's all I ask for..honesty. Fuck that moron over at the noticeboard. How do you know he wasn't a "head" or journeytroll, or some jealous VH fan?[/quote]

Er....
this tour was NEVER billed by anyone affiliated with the band as "THE GREATEST HITS TOUR."
The press release and intervies by memebers made certain that people knew what to expect.
For me a huge Journeyhead, this, particularly Irvine, is the dream setlist (save for no Arrival or Red13). A lot of people love the setlist. The album name that the tour supports alludes to acknowledging all differnet eras of the band.As for being self-indulgent with solos and obscure numbers, I disagree. Tons of people are digging the Pre-Perry material. THeir touring setlist since 1998 (excepting some nights on Under The Radar and Summer DeTour) has been nothing but the hits interspersed with a few new songs and rareities. They've EARNED the right to play what they feel like, especially when they told you beforehand.

They do all their hits as well. That is why the show is as long as it is. If someone can't sit through a few songs just because they don't recognize them, then they should just plan to come late. If people were leaving early at the shows I attended, then they must have oversold the event because somehow the chairs weren't empty.
Patiently is in that first set as well, and if they want to miss that, they are missing alot. I thought the first set was the best of the night precisely because those are performances we have not seen over and over again. I wouldn't jude anything in the world by one person's opinion.

That's what I was trying to say, but these people are so damned stupid, I cannot contain my emotions...

I've heard all the members of Joureny sing apart from Ross, and think they all sound good.
After 30 years they deserve to be able to play whatever they want, I'm sure real Journey fans would still be entertained by the band they love during the first hour of the show. I know I would.

I suggest you wait until they play in the UK. This tour is
not for the casual fan and since you are coming all the way from the UK, don't do it. Save your money.

Speaking of touring the UK..Did Ross ever officially say "Yes" to it?

Deano,
That poster is not a moron, he is a respected regular contributor to the board. And PLEASE ease up on the profanities.

Sorry 'drew. My bad.. It's just these people have warped my fragile little mind.
But in all seriousness, he seems to know jack shit about Journey, their talents, their history or their show.. Perhaps this time he may be wrong?
But I know it is your board and your world, and we live in it..(dragging tail between my legs..) I am a dumbshit!

I've interviewed them all, and no one has committed to a definite Euro tour.

1) I can't wait to see this show.
2) I don't think the promotion is that clear in that the first half hour will feature nothing that anybody but a hardcore fan will know.
3) I think they should mix up the pre-perry stuff throughout the set a little - as much as I favor new music, I do fully believe that you should always open with something instantly recognizable.

Don't you have two entire threads worth of refutations to respond to?
You willfully chose to indite two whole threads devoted to knocking this band, now go be a man, and defend your silly, frivolous claims.

I was at the show last week in Milwaukee. The first 3 songs people (not everyone) were sitting down for, after that people were standing for the "hits" and then sitting for the new songs (since no one was familiar with). The front section stood for most of the show.
I'm a casual Journey fan and I thought the show was
GREAT!! This is the 3rd time that I've seen them in 4 years. There were mostly "kids" around us, they were in there late teens and early twenties. They really enjoyed the concert and had no clue about the band members, they were there
just for the music. About 4 people (actually more) around us thought this was the original band and they were reuniting for "the anniversary tour" - LOL
I thought the new songs were mixed up perfect throughout the show (my opinion). I also liked the variety of different singers, Deen is awesome!!!!!

Glad you enjoyed the show.
Now only if they would head up my ways by Philly.

That is what this tour is all about!!
I know people will sit for the songs they don't know, but they are still listening. Maybe a lot of the casual fans are just used to dancing for the entire show...and the band is used to seeing that.
There are a lot of people complaing about the show because they don't understand it. I was worried that the band was caving in to that criticism too fast. But apparantly, for the most part, the band is doing "what
they wnat. Which is exactly how it should be.
What cracks me up the most is how many people are trying to turn it around on Steve, saying the band doesn't respect him. Or that the band is treating him poorly. Or Steve must be on the way out. These fans just have NO clue what is going on here...
Ignorance is bliss...

Noble Cause, I'm Philadelphia, too.
Whatdadillio on that?
Guess we have to shoot for Holmdel (MMmmmmmm not likely), or University Park (even farther).
DelVal's always been a good support pocket for the band. I don't get it.

I see your sig, "JoePa" meaning I 'm thinking you are a Penn State guy, and aren't the Band playing there?

It's still a 4-hour drive from Philly RockN. As it is I only make it up to 1 football game a year. The rest are on TV thankfully unlike the Generations show. Holmdel's a better bet. 'bout 90 minutes.
I'm just surprised this'll be the second straight year with no Philly. I see their playing the amphitheater in Boston (where Troll won't be) which is the same design and seating layout as the Camden one....
