Journey has had over 14 members in the band throughout the years.
Which line-up is your favorie?
A) Neal, George, Aynsley, Gregg, Ross
B) Neal, Aynsley, Gregg, Ross
C) Neal, Aynsley, Gregg, Ross, Perry
D) Neal, Steve, Gregg, Ross, Perry
E) Neal, Steve, Jon, Ross, Perry
F) Neal, Mike, Jon, Randy, Perry
G) Neal Deen, Jon, Ross, Steve
(I didn't include Prarie since he did not record with Journey. I did not include Larrie Londin who recorded but did not tour. And I would love to include the lineup with Kevin and Gregg but they did not record either)

AWESOME question. For me, it would have to the ESC4P3 era, which is E, but the Evolutoin/Departure lineup (D) is only a step behind. The new lineup (G) is third, but gaining!

E

(Gasp!!) yes I'd tab the classic lineup if forced to pick faves (how's that word grab ya Deano?!?!?!),
But I still would never change the current smoking lineup.

E.............but I'll always wonder what it would have been like if Gregg had stuck around.

Yes, but we wouldn't have Journey's greatest album if he had. But who knows, the next album may have been even better?

If greg hand't left they would've ended up sounding something like The Storm.

The Storm is OK, but can't touch Journey ESC4P3. Don't you agree?

With Perry's voice, it wouldn't have sounded like The Storm, would it?

Except for how similar Perry's and Kevin's voices are.
I rememebr the first time I heard "I've Got A Lot To Learn About Love" I REALLY thought "Is this what Perry sounds like now?"

Me too, Dave. I thought that was Perry when I heard it.

I knew it soundd 'different', but with all the rumors and all the time that had passed...I felt it a real possibility that it was Perry.

Yes Chalfont sounds like Perry on those storm records. The paradox of The Inimitable Voice sounding like a lot of vocalists again.

I remember thinking "Call to the Heart" by Guiffria was Journey the first time I heard it. I could not believe it wasn't!

I have those tapes but I NEVER confused them with Journey. Maybe it is that the keyboard sound is so strong...more than Jon would ever do.

Do you think the singer sounds like Perry?

A little, but not enough IMO. David Glenn Eisley is a great vocalist, but he has always been in a lower key. There is a hint of Frontiers, but it is just not enough to me.

Hands down... (D) !!!!
Perry, Schon, Rolie, Smith , Valory
This was the Dream Team!!!! Rock with a touch of Blues.
Evolution is the best album they've ever done IMO. They brought their "A" game to this one!

Firstly, Nealisgod, who says Escape is their best album? I don't think it is..I would much rather hear Frontiers.
I am taking "G". The current lineup is Journey's best ever... No fights, no bullshit hip injuries, no bullshit motorhoming around without the rest of the band..I can go on and on..
This band gets along, has 2 quality singers, and a real tight sound.
Now if 28 were to put the manager in his question, then of course I would change. Irving is about dead, and Herbie is about a genius.

I agree that "D" is the best. But I think Departure was Journey's at their absolute best.
For the longest time "E" would have been my 2nd but I must say that that the current lineup is now my 2nd.

Great question

I didn't know there were so many different line-ups.
For me, it would be
1.
E) Neal, Steve, Jon, Ross, Perry
2.
G) Neal Deen, Jon, Ross, Steve
3.
D) Neal, Steve, Gregg, Ross, Perry
To me, Perry is "the Voice" of Journey, but I'm also a big Jon fan
Hey, I love fluffy threads - LOL

WOW, not too many people I know called Journey fluffy with the addition of Perry. But I admire anyone who was a fan pre-Perry. You got to be a part of something truly special, the likes that will never been seen again (after this tour...

Easy one....'C'.....this was the best this band ever was.
Although the new lineup would be a close second.

Yes NIG I do agree The Storm aren't as good as Journey. But I do love those two albums. I'm glad Jon joined too that way we get Journey and the Storm.
