So I was listening to the radio and there was a mention that Journey was coming to the local corndog state fair.

You know, beside some of their "oldies but goodies" that play on classic rawk stations, you don't hear ANY on the new stuff. Nor are that in any rock magazines. Evidently there isn't much demand for their type of music no more.

I thought they wrapped it up in the mid 80s, but evidently they are still coasting along. After hearing some of their new music, perhaps it would've been a good idea they called it a day 20 years ago.

Hell, the only real coverage you get of Journey is at some backwater website like this one..

A little light will go out in the world when Neal Schonn stops making his magic..

Foreigner is even worse off than Journey imo. At least people still mention Perry in pop culture.

Really? Who? And in what context?

Actually, I should revise that... it seems like Journey songs in general show up in pop culture more often that Foreigner's. My point is, almost all of these bands except Aerosmith and U2 are playing state fairs and not getting any promo for new music. Even Heart just came to CA for some county fair...

I guess you are right. Journey gets lampooned more than your average AOR band.

The guys are obviously still out there playing because they have a love for the music. Do you have VH1 Classic? You'll find these old AOR bands are actually playing in bigger venues today then what they did just a few years back. Journey or Foreigner will never probably have the same sucess as what they did back in the 70's and 80's, but that doesn't mean they should stop playing.
