Does anyone know where I could locate a version of Journey doing Faithfully at the Bill Graham tribute show? I'm looking for a video clip if possible. Audio would be cool if there's no video. I know it was posted online a while back, but I can't find it.

Thanks.

Ironicaly, I was thinking about this very song.

When I listened to that "Faithfully"/DSB that was posted, my first thought was, "This still sounds better then the Bill Graham Tribute"...

And, Perry screws up the words on this one. Funny how you guys don't look at this as a disaster.

I wouldn't call either one a "disaster". But they both sound rough. Some people don't want to accept the fact that they are human.

they've both messed up many times. Perry once said "Playing live means never having to say you're sorry". Funny, but true. Doesn't mean either of them suck, just means they've both had rough shows. No big deal. :)

It's kinda weird to know that was the last time Steve Perry performed live with Cain and Schon. Just an observation.

Okay, after hearing this, not sure why people think of it as being sub par. They lowered both song keys and Steve Perry omitted the higher part at the end of Faithfully but it doesn't sound like he forgot to me, just sounded like he 'avoided' it or they abbreviated it. Still a good performance by a rougher older Perry. I was actually surprised it was this good after hearing about it for years and also reading Herbie's comments regarding that day. Just seems a little more solemn instead of like the huge power ballad. I actually liked the lower keys of both. One thing about Perry, his pitch is great and really consistent. You can hear how rough he is though.

Well,I am not surprised he sounded rough. He didn't sang a note for 3 years when the Memorial happened.Plus, being an unexpected event,he didn't had the time to get his voice back in a concert shape. That's how I see it.

yeah, it actually comes off as a bit more soulful. Might not be intentional, but it's a cool recording. cool.

Wow, thanks so much for posting this mp3. I loved it. It is strange that was the last time Perry performed with Cain and Schon....kinda sad. Perry's voice has such an unreal tone. Even though he refrained a bit from the higher notes, his primary strength is his soulful melodies and tone/texture to his voice.

Thanks again for posting.

Listening to it right now....never heard the "Faithfully"; I have heard "Lights" before....

"Faithfully" was just....beautiful. Period.

Stripped down; no "Journey Hugeness" of the original recording....and he was able to throw in some one-off improv riffs with NO REHEARSAL...and they had no pitch mistakes.

I DID hear a Neal flub in Lights, but it was probably the lower key that through him. Still a cool performance.

I had seen the video for this performance of "Lights" but had not heard that performance of "Faithfully". I enjoyed "Lights" much more, though, so to each his own.

Man he looked good in that purple shirt, right ladies?

Schon looked like he was hung over the whole time.

Thanx so much for that. Any moron could figure out that it was played for a somber event. Steve played along. Voice gone...Come on...get fuckin' real

You're fuckin' kidding, right..??

BETTER than the Bill Graham Tribute...???

Perry came unprepared, unrehearsed, been off the road for years, and still sang in pitch, albeit a couple of keys lower...

You seem to enjoy dissin' Perry....

I still can't believe you actually said Faithfully/DSB sounds better than the Bill Graham show....

Oh, please, you act like he wasn't singing at all. At that time he was in the midst of recording "Against the Wall", which he had to scrap and record FTLOSM. He may not have been 'on the road', but he had been using his voice.

A "couple keys lower"? LOL...he sounds HORRIBLE, too low, a scratchy voice, and he screwed up the lyrics. You all make excuse after excuse for this, but the fact is that this is a RADIO SHOW where you could CLEARLY hear how fucked up Perry's voice was...compared to a bootleg where it is hard to hear anything significant.

The bottom line is, yeah, I'd rather hear the Augeri version then this crap that isn't even ATTEMPTED in the correct key, with the wrong words, and a scratchy, hairball voice.

And that he had to 'scrap' that and record FTLOSM instead..???

I'm waiting for your answer.....

One thing we do agree on...If that was Augeri singing that, they'd be talking about how horrible he sounds. On the other hand, I do enjoy that version of "Lights" despite the scratchiness of his voice.

I'm not sure about when those few tracks were recorded but he started writing those songs, according to the liner notes in "Greatest Hits + 5 Unreleased", in '88.
