I was at Chula Vista:
I brought a friend who does not follow the band closely, but had seen Augeri - she hated JSS. Her first comment was, "He doesn't work." Later she remarked, "What is he wearing,
jeans and a t-shirt?" I laughed and told her about BT saying the same thing.
It was an extremely Leppard crowd. When Journey was done, the stadium had just finally filled up through general admission. They all seemed to know the hits, but one guy came up to my friend and shouted, "That's not Steve! I was ripped off!" I'm not sure which Steve he meant, probably Perry.
JSS had a lot of trouble singing
Escape. Otherwise he was decent, I guess. No Deen, which disappointed me. I was watching Jeff's stage moves/crowd interaction closely and frankly didn't notice much that Augeri hasn't done at some point, so I don't know where the "no stage presence" insults comes from.
All in all, they didn't do much for me. To be fair, part of it may be that we were spoiled last year with some rare songs and this show was all hits save for Dead Or Alive. A bit of a letdown there. I won't be traveling very far to see them from now on, and if I go it will be in the nosebleeds. They're simply not worth it for me anymore. Even if Augeri comes back, they will continue to play 'hits' shows, and if so, I still won't travel far or spend much.
P.S. to Journey: GET RID OF YOUR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER VISUALIZATIONS ONSCREEN. PLEASE, IT'S NOT PROFESSIONAL!
