I know there's a Toto forum, but I don't know those folks & so far, I trust (at lease some of) ur opinions. Has anyone seen them live recently? They're coming around here on 11/10. Tickets are not on sale yet, but I have given the venue my credit card for as soon as they come on sale as I want the BEST seats. I have LOVED them for a long time & never seen them live. I had tickets for them at a race track down here a few years ago & they cancelled. I was pissed. I can't wait for this show coming up & I got a Friday nite off work (not easy) for it. They are playing at a teeny venue that holds 1200. I can't believe they are not bigger than this. WTF!

If u saw them live, do they still sound good? Can Bobbie still bring it like he used to?

Is not having Jeff a big loss in the live sound?

Do they do their "dirty dozen" (not sure it's quite a dozen but u know what I mean)?

Thanks.

Hi there
saw Toto this current year at the beginning of their tour (it was in March I believe), and loved the show.
The lineup kicks ass, the song choice was the following one (I took it from toto99 site since my memory can't be so clear after half an year):
- FALLING IN BETWEEN
- KING OF THE WORLD
- PAMELA
- BOTTOM OF YOUR SOUL.
- CAUGHT IN THE BALANCE
- MAKE BELIEVE
- HOLD THE LINE
- STOP LOVING YOU / I’LL BE OVER YOU / CRUEL / I WILL REMEMBER
- ROSANNA
- LET IT GO, ENDLESS, ISOLATION and GIFT OF FAITH.
- KINGDOM OF DESIRE / HYDRA
- TAINT YOUR WORLD
- I WON’T HOLD YOU BACK
- GOODBYE GIRL
encores were
- HOME OF THE BRAVE
- AFRICA
Rosanna was played with a different arrangement, the "Isolation" medley was nothing short of spectacular, there were just a few solos here and there (drum solo was a short one being done over the Hydra refrain, Luke did his solo and Greg did his one as well)
Greg is a real surprise, he fits right into the sound of the band.
Bobby was in good shape, well, I didn't like at all his sound for the first three songs, he strained a lot, he drank so much in between every song, and he got better and better towards the middle of the show. Don't know what happened...
Luke's voice is a bit lower than what it used to be, but still unique. Tony Spinner's voice on Stop Loving You is perfect.
If you have any questions feel free to ask, you're welcome. Go and see this show because they're still at the top of their game now.

Cheers 8)

I'd kill to be in your shoes..!

Go watch a bunch of ridiculously talented musicians blow you away..! You will not regret it, believe me..!

Bobby still kicks ass, Luke, well...no comment...to ME, he's my guitar hero....

Yeah, we all miss Jeff, but Simon;s been doing a superb job for the last 14 years..!

Enjoy and let me have a detailed review, ok...?

Cheers

Ray

I'm a huge Toto fan, saw every tour since their 7th album. Also went to see Los lobotomys and Luke solo a few times. He and Neal are my favourite guitar players. I'd like to see them do an album together some time, that would be the ultimate guiatr album, won't it.

Though having all the rock star sex appeal of the corner pizzeria owner, Bobby is still a vocal force of nature!
Luke is good, but needs to drop the Sammy Davis jr shtick.
Nobody even remembers who that guy is anymore.

Bobby claims to drink anywhere from 6-8 liters of water nightly.
At one point, I offhandedly mentioned to my friend that the tour should've been sponsored by Mt. Valley Spring Water.
He drinks soo much he must have an adult diaper handy or wear one on stage.

You won't be disappointed.

Yes, Jeff is gone, but really, how many drummers are more technically proficient and experienced as Simon Phillips?

Bobby still sounds great...the thing is...Bobby's a belter, not a smooth singer like, say, Perry. So when he's on, he's on, but he doesn't sound as smooth as the records might have you believe. However, he never really did, even in the early days, so to my ears he still sounds great.

I do reccomend picking up their new disc before the show, it's one of the best albums of 2006, hands down. Seeing them in Chicago on Nov. 14th. :)
