I know this can't compete with all the tribute band vids posted here, but I thought a few people might be amused.

I just graduated from Columbia College a few months ago, and as a music major, we had to do a "recital," although they're fairly open-ended about what you do. I majored in guitar but I'm more into songwriting and arranging than soloing for 45 minutes straight. So I picked a few songs I'd just always wanted to play, and did it.

Keep in mind we had about 4 rehearsals to pull all the tunes together, so we don't sound like Frontiers or any of the other tribute bands, but we had fun, and my friend Jenn is a Journey fan as well and sang the shit out of this song. Apologizes for the bad harmonies at the end of the song, we didn't really get a chance to work on those...oops.

But then again, when do you get to see a band with three chicks playing Journey? Anyway, it's myself on guitar and my friend Jenn on vocals. The drummer and piano player are twins, and they're pretty damn good for a couple of 20-year olds. Don't mind my sloppy guitar playing, it was early in the day and I was really nervous and got about 45 minutes of sleep the night before. Enjoy.

Let me first state for the record that I can't sing to save my life! Now that I got that out of the way...THAT WAS AWFUL! My mother told me if I didn't have something nice to say that I should keep my mouth shut, but, I just couldn't resist. Hell, at the beginning of that song, I didn't even know what song it was, even though you said which song it was. I can't critique to guitar jamming, because frankly, the vocals were far too distracting to hear anything else. I certainly give you MUCH credit for having the stones to post this, because I know I would NEVER consider posting my awful singing for anyone here to critique

walrus!!! that was great! but get a "lead" pedal!! stomp it and smokem.... you played great,, cool chops,, those "hammers" are great sounding ....... i liked it all ,, the singer has a real blues joplin sound, she would own "cry baby" ,, i thought it was great!!!! thanks for posting ,, not sure why i think a chick drummer is sexy,, but i do KEEP ROCKIN!!!!

I know...the recording kind of sucked. I had a wireless when we soundchecked and I went to the back of the room to see how it sounded, and it was fine in the room, but the guitar sounds kind of weak in the soundboard, but unfortuntately they don't record multitracks so I couldn't fix it later.

sometimes when i play live , on the solo,, my amp is screaming loud , and people will tell me, "i couldnt hear all your solo"... its hard to find that sound to cut through the mix... i love your guitar!!

A lot of time it is the EQ on the guitar, and not necessarily the volume of the guitar that will determine whether or not it is heard. I know we try to play with as little volume on stage as possible in order to get the best mix out front!

this is the solution for sure,, jeremey has it, little volume and let the sound dude mix it,, unfortuanatley ,, i dont play much with sound guys,, we dont even sound check in these bars,, the first song is the sound check!!
