As if the USA stuff wasn't good/bad enough depending on your viewpoint (IMHO the new masterings are horrid and I hate digipaks), I figured I'd let everyone know that the CDs are getting a different mastering job in Japan. They are going to be DSD mastered AND the whole catalog is being done through Trial by Fire. This includes the first three non-Perry albums and Dream After Dream. These will have no bonus cuts - just the normal albums. They are due out December 6.

I'm looking forward to the Japanese DSD masters, as I have the Springsteen and Billy Joel ones which sound great.

No, the mini-LP CD-sized replicas. So it's CD.

But 4 albums remastered not out here AND the rest of the catalog are different masterings. The Sony Japan LP sleeves are immaculate - they get it right down to the inserts.

Did anyone pick these up? Was the sound quality enough of an improvement to justify the high cost. $27 each is what I'm seeing these for.
