I'm listening to the Jim Bohannon Show(11 -1/pm EST), and his guest tonight is "Mighty John Marshall," a major appraiser of vinyl records. I know a lot of you have vinyl collectibles, so check out his website, where you can get appraisals for your records, and if you get the Bohannon show on the West coast later, listen in. The show's very interesting. He's giving appraisals to his callers. As an example, there's a Beatles album on his website worth $12,000.

Here's his website:

Oh, yeah, I don't have GH on vinyl either...don't care for compilations. I do have "In the Beginning" tho, just one copy. And, I only have one copy of Captured, DAD, and ROR. The rest of the Perry years are doubled up, once copy from high school and another as import that has never been played. I have all of the pre-Perry as imports and never been played. I also have a promo inteview they did for Frontiers on vinyl and a live concert promo they did for Infinity. And, I have both "Monster of Rock" concerts for ROR and Frontiers on vinyl.

Don't know if any of this is worth anything tho.

I also have "In The Beginning" too, Monker. Great condition too. I bought a lot of 8 albums for 8 bucks off of ebay a few years ago. 2 bucks per album.......... not a bad deal ! :D

Sallee, does it have any kind of picture sleeve? Those are sometimes worth more than the record itself.

No, yak, it doesn't have a picture sleeve on either of the records. Darn it !

Parent's are both gone. :( They weren't into the Beatle's anyway. I haven't had vinyl since the 80's. Haven't had a turntable to play em on, either.

I don't have a turntable either, TVL, but I still keep my vinyl just the same. There might be a place here in the area that still sells them tho. :D

Sorry about your parents, TVL.

Sallee, I bought some Journey vinyl in the late 80's, just because I knew vinyl was going to be retired. I have them put away, but I think I have Evolution, Departure, Captured double album, and a few others.

"Mighty John" said tonight that 8 tracks and cassette tapes wouldn't be worth anything, but that CDs will be at some point. One of Bruce Springsteen's albums was in the top ten most valuable records. Also Nirvana.

yak, I also have a "Captured" album that is from Holland. It says "Printed In Holland" on the back cover. No poster in it tho. But the sticker price on it says $28.95! And I got it in that lot of albums I bought for 8 bucks ! :D

Oh yeah. I have over 500 albums. I take em out & play em too.

Hmm I have a few Beatles albums. Wonder if they're worth anything? I also have that John & Yoko album where they're naked. I dunno if that's rare tho.

Between my husband and I, we've got a lot of them here, but don't think they're worth much. Many of them are not in great shape :( I do find this interesting tho, how they can get appraised for so much more than you originally purchased them for...I'm going to have to check out that website and take a look, I'm curious now.

Yak, what station were you listening to? I've never heard of that show before.

The dbl Captured Album is one of the best. It has dust covers with pic of the concert, a great poster and the fold out of the album is all shots of the concert.
You can still find decent phonographs at Thrift stores and also vinyl in very good condition.

I found & bought most of the Journey vinyls at a thrift store last year. I was in a thrift store last weekend hoping to find ROR (that one must be hard to find)...when I saw a really nifty graphic on an old Samba record in a stack of records. I was gonna take it when a guy searching thru next to me said that was his stack. Rats. I was gonna frame it. I like a lot of the artwork on old records.
I asked Santa for a turntable, too.

Imports are seem to ALWAYS be worth more money. So, it woudnn't surprise me if that one is worth the $30 today.

If you go to GEMM.com, you can search for vinyl...

You can get an idea of what various albums are going for...or you can search for more to buy.

I actually had that Beatles album
Yesterday & Today
(with the butchered maniquin parts)
in my hands at a church community
sale years ago and put it back so I
could grab Londontown from McCartney.
Each were $1.00 and I didn't know it's
value until a couple years later.

I still try and kick my own backside for that mistake.

We have a lot of vinyl here. And we still have a turntable. Just purchased a new diamond needle for it about 2 years ago.
