Anyone going to the NAMM SHow?

Just curious if any of you were going to be attending the NAMM show in Anaheim this week? It should prove to be quite an experience. I went to the Summer NAMM Show a few years back, but I've never been to the one in California. They say the Summer NAMM Show pales in comparison to the Anaheim event. There are always numerous celebrity musicians who show up, but I don't know what the lineup for this year is yet. I do know Michael Anthony will be there. I wouldn't be surprised if Eddie Van Halen showed up. He can't seem to stay out of the spotlight, and he lives nearby. I wonder if JSS or any other Journey members will be there?

P.S. - The NAMM (National Association of Musical Merchants) Show is the largest musical trade show in the world. Held every January in Anaheim, California, USA and July in Indianapolis, Indiana, it brings together all facets of the music industry to reveal new products and marketing. Over 80,000 people attended the January 2006 show. The event is not open to the public, but rather to individuals who own or are employed by musical retailers, recording studios, and sound professionals.

I think (if I read it correct) at JSS site, it said--- he will be performing there with the jeff scott soto band at NAMM for a one time perfmance!!
That would be a cool show alert!! Why do all the fun trade shows happen on the coasts!!

DOH! I just found this on the home page of MelodicRock.com:

JEFF SCOTT SOTO BAND ONE-OFF LA PERFOMANCE:
News from guitarist Howie Simon's MySpace page:
"The Jeff Scott Soto band featuring Howie Simon, original bassist Gary Schutt and drummer Dave Dzialak will be performing on Saturday night, January 20th for a cool NAMM show event. Other "special" guests might actually join us as well.
Every year, the guys from the Fender Guitars Custom shop put on "Fret Fest" to benefit "Kids Rock Free", a children's music education program. More information about this program can be found here: www.fendermuseum.com/kidsrockfreeedupro.html.
The venue is Lofflers at 8901 Katella Blvd., about a 9 minute drive or taxi ride from the Convention Center. Their number is (714) 826-2040 in case you need directions.
You do not need a NAMM badge to attend this show! However, you must be 21 and prepared to pay a $7 admission fee. ALL the proceeds from this night go to "Kids Rock Free".
At last year's show the venue was SOLD OUT early and they were not letting in any more people. Therefore, I suggest you get there as early as you can...you have been warned!
I will have more details about our set time very soon."
WebLinks: www.HowieSimon.com and www.MySpace.com/HowieSimon

I hope I can get in before it's sold out!

 Yeah the same joke works here in southern Virginia where I live now. I lived the first 21 years of my life just outside Council Bluffs. Compared to here, I still miss all the boredom of Omaha.

Hey Rick, do you know Monker? He's your neighbor. I'd like to meet him, seriously.

sorry to take this OT...

I have no idea who he is, he probably lives somewhere near by... heck he could be a customer of ours and I would never know!! haha.

Well if its been a while since your last visit to these parts... Des Moines especially has more going for it than it did 25 years ago!! And going to the Omaha show in OCT, looks like Omaha is doing more of the same with their new arena, shops more downtown lofts and condos, places to eat and drink... it was probably a god send to have AKSARBEN close down in the long run. Whats your first name---just so I dont have to call you ohsherri. LOL...

I'm Sherrie of course. :) I still come home now and then because my family is still there. Downtown Omaha, especially the Old Market just amazes me. When I was living there I worked at Pendletons down in that area and was glad I worked days. The neighborhood was so bad, but now it's the place to be.

I saw all my concerts as a teen at the old civic center. Now the Quest Center is where it's all happening. Of course my mom is all into the casinos down on the river now.

Aksarben was good at what they did in their day, they just outlived their ability to keep up with the times.

I'm sorry we're so off topic too, but it's nice to talk to someone from back home. :D

If you ever get the chance to meet Monker tell him I said HI.

This just in....I don't wanna make it too public but thought it shouldn't hurt posting it here....Marco Mendoza's trio are playing before me, about 8:00, Neal's coming down & joining Marco with me for a Soul SirkUS tune, who knows, if there's time we may throw in a Journey tune as well....my band goes on at 9....as already posted, it's 1st come 1st serve, when it's full it's full, no exceptions. EVERYONE pays a $7 donation which goes towards the children's program they do this show for annually. Best bet is to get there by 7-ish & take advantage of the cheap bar prices!!

I knew i'd miss out on alotto shit by not going this year like planned. Baby on the way and wedding planning to do took first priority, but then Wife/mother-to-be told me to go anyway (gotta love her), but it was too late to get vacation from work and the person I could have gotten tickets from was already out  Next year will be planned WAY ahead

Dr. doesn't think so but said I did have a very severe sprain and I could have a hairline fracture. I am in an aircast and on crutches for two weeks and if it doesn't get any better, then an MRI. BUT it WILL be better, because I am going to stay the hell off of it and not walk on it like I did the whole weekend in Cali!! Those liquid painkillers really did the trick! I didn't feel much until I got on the plane to come home!!!
